Hmm I guess some will read it the way they want to read it.

From personal experience though, never known a company putting itself up for sale as good news

"they’ve changed their outlook from being ahead of expectations to being in line."

What they actually said was:

"Current trading remains in line with the Board's expectations."

Which I take to mean their expectations of 'being ahead' as previously announced.

In their statements (interims and response to speculation) between 8/9 and 1/11 they’ve changed their outlook from being ahead of expectations to being in line. I’d say something has happened, the directors want out (maybe similar circs to AGFX and costs of expansion will reduce bottom line)
Think about it, they took a long while getting the uk business to be profitable and they have wanted to expand across Europe, that doesn’t come cheap. In order to roll it out across different countries the investment needed is too much for them which would damage the share price in the short term, it’s difficult to raise money presently, the market is brutal and punishes the share. They’re not youngsters, have young families and probably don’t want the headache of it. Cash out at the high, take their millions and retire, or have a cushy position still managing it under some much larger and well funded organisation. Just my thoughts. Dyor.

An announcement can be made at any time and if 29th arrives and talks have not concluded they can be extended (announced by an RNS). by the same token talks can be terminated at any time and announced to the market.

Does anyone know if the 28 day standstill period has to elapse before any announcement is made regarding talks or if an announcement can be made earlier if the talks came to nought?

carcosa, you may well be right. But the timing makes me suspicious as does the fact Peel Hunt have been ditched after only 6 months, as does this issuing of the Executive team options and as does the rushing through of the dividend.

Nothing happens without reason.

Ermmm.. The advisor has not changed. Canacccord were already appointed on 26 March 2021.

Peel Hunt LLP were appointed as joint broker in 30 March 2023 and have now been ditched. Peel Hunt are in trouble having posted a loss and it's not looking so good for that company.

redartbmud, interesting observation. I confess I read completely differently into this Adviser change. Canaccord Genuity are specialists in friendly and hostile public take-overs and mergers...maybe their previous Adviser did not have this expertise..

Wonder of the Cannacord move is as a result of the recently botched fiasco over the business up for sale episode?

It seems to be a problem with trades 43 & 44 (timed at 16:49, as shown on ADVFN). They are showing as 176.8 but sadly must be an error.
