Compare that to igaming where 3 (yep 3) meaningful states rack up underlying 3 month revenues of around $1bn...
Said it before say it again its not Sports its Igaming...If individual states start to permit igaming then great..if not this is a slow burn to 25Bn Sports Market

Of the 26 States that provide any meaningful data on Sports Betting

Dec-Feb 22= 1.4bn
versus
Dec-Feb 21= 870m
Over period (+ 530m/+61%)

Interesting maybe Penn, NJ Down and NY accounting for C 200m/38% of the increase (nil margin plus or minus) over the period.

It is correct to say people gamble more in recessions but that is frequency not value.. There are many reports siting the fact that at best a recession shows no growth in NGR... No growth equals decline in share price in most cases.. Gambling Journal reported "Among the three gambling activities only lottery consumption appears to be recession-proof. This series is characterized by a vast and solid growth that exceeds the growth in income and the growth in other gambling sectors. Casino gambling expenditures show a positive growth during expansions and no growth during recessions. Hence, the loss in income during recessions affects casino gambling.". There are many reports, saying the same thing.. IMO recession reversals for equities are quick, brutal, and best watched from the sidelines..

Recession !!!!
People actually gamble more in the hard times , hoping to win their way out of the bad times.
Never been a recession where bookies have suffered , only big winners & lots of favourite winners hurt the bookies and even then it’s only short term.

Recession coming to Europe won't save even the best bookies.. But smart long term holders will no doubt judge the best moments to buy in the next 24 months.. IMO that will be after 23 months..
