09/1/2013 13:25 | Thanks David. Some quick lunch break calcs. 2012 pre tax profit of £1.12m (split circa 54% first half and 46% second half). Interim 2013 pre tax profit of £1.07m. Applying the same percentage split as 2012 (which may be off the mark and does not account for growth) would give full year profits of £1.865m. With a market cap of around £15m this looks appealing. If I've read the annual report correctly the company has a net debt (I assume this the same as 'consolidated group borrowings')of £2.7m at the end of 2012. The latest interim report suggests the debt has reduced although I can't put a figure on it. What land are they are trying to sell? Into the realms of my day job now, but I know all to well that obtaining planning permission can be an arduous process. | rp19
08/1/2013 21:13 | RP19...I am afraid there are no forecasts or research notes available which does make your own research even more important and likely to be profitable as very few look further to see what the company is doing. I do think this year would be a good time for the directors to encourage the broker or some third party research and I am working on it. You are welcome to suggest the same and it does help with setting realistic tagets but for the moment doubling the interim performance is probably a good starting point. You also need to take into account the potential land sales that should bring in cash without affecting the business. | davidosh
08/1/2013 20:59 | On my research list, however, I can't find any earnings estimates going forwards. Any ideas? | rp19
07/1/2013 08:09 | A few more buying in this morning. | battlebus2
05/1/2013 11:46 | Not bought......yet. | napoleon 14th
04/1/2013 18:18 | Doubt that you waited too long surely they are worth much more than 15 million. | battlebus2
04/1/2013 18:00 | From Selftrade: 10:28:39 47.00p 20,000 so that's correct & what will have spurred the share price upwards. Apparently only two more trades after that, of little significance: 12:14:50 50.50p 3,000 15:33:20 50.50p 2,000 DAMN! I had these on my list but waited too long.... | napoleon 14th
04/1/2013 11:38 | I see a possible buy of 20k shares reported late. SM bit more than minimal :)) | battlebus2
04/1/2013 10:39 | Had to slap myself when i realised the market cap is still only 15 million!! | battlebus2
04/1/2013 10:13 | Maybe I should buy a minimal number more ?! :o) | strollingmolby

04/1/2013 08:23 | Yep, i guess those buys yesterday snapped up most of the stock. Would take very little to see new recent highs. | battlebus2
04/1/2013 08:11 | Yes, a happy new year to all ESR holders, on the up again today after a tiny trade. | bigbigdave
03/1/2013 17:34 | I've also picked ESR davidosh ;-) Have to say I was extremely impressed with your son's performance in the Stockchallenge & reckon he's a chip off the old block! Kind regards, GHF | glasshalfull
03/1/2013 16:47 | Yes happy new year Davidosh :)) Can't see these hanging around to long as thy are snapped up on any dips. | battlebus2
03/1/2013 16:44 | A happy new year to all here in our quiet backwater. Some decent size buying today. Moving back up towards the recent highs again. I put Ensor in my 2013 Stock Challenge entry for the year ahead so fingers crossed for all of us. Last year I only managed to make a mid thirties position even though my five picks were up 30% or so on average and my 14 year old son walked all over me with a 77% increase and 8th place out of 330 investors entered. www.stockchallenge.c No pressure then to all at Ensor but family pride depends on you ! | davidosh
09/12/2012 12:41 | Coverage in the Manchester Evening News... Building materials group Ensor Holdings today revealed half-year pre-tax profits nearly doubled to more than £1m. The firm, based in Wythenshawe, said revenues for the six months to September 30 were up 46 per cent from £11.1m in 2011 to £16.2m this time around. Pre-tax profits grew from £549,000 to £1.07. Sales at Ensor were boosted by its January swoop for security business Technocover and chairman Ken Harrison said the business had continued to make a positive contribution since the period covered by the results. Shares in AIM-listed Ensor rose 14.5 per cent to 39.5p, as the group hiked its half-year dividend by 45 per cent to 0.4p per share. It employs about 250 staff at seven companies, including ones supplying tools and building products, industrial doors and furniture packaging as well as rubber processing. Ensor has operations across the north west, West Yorkshire and Scotland and a sourcing office in China. Mr Harrison added: "These very pleasing results include the first full contribution by Technocover, which has continued to improve since the acquisition of the company in January this year. "The results for our other established businesses have been in line with our expectations, holding up well during an economically flat period. "There are some signs of improvements in the economy as we start the second half of our financial year, but we are not relying on these signs and continue to work hard to maintain a `tight ship'." I very much like the fact that Technocover has continued to improve. The second half figures may even be better than simply multiplying the first half by two ? The management will no doubt find efficiency savings with their tight ship principles as they get to know the business they have acquired as it is still early days as part of Ensor. | davidosh
09/12/2012 10:01 | Yes don't agree with spread betting at all, for me it's not investing more like gambling. | battlebus2
09/12/2012 09:41 | Can't understand why spread betting is being discussed here. This is as close to a perfect LTBH as a company ever gets. | bigbigdave
07/12/2012 09:41 | If you go spreadbetting, typically at rollover you will get closed at the bid, and the new bet opened at the mid. So if the Bid-Ask spread at the time is 10% it will cost you 5% per rollover. The default new bet will be the 3mo future, though if you call them at the right time you can get it to roll to the far month (6mo out typically). So min of 2 x 5% = 10% pa holding cost if the Bid-Ask for this share is 10%. (I use IG Index, so suggest check with your provider how they operate re rollovers) | papy02
07/12/2012 09:29 | Thanks WC, I'll try them. Hi Papy02, No I was looking for very longs. I would pay more on the spread but can open till June then rollover. I've never costed it, you maybe right, it maybe better to use a normal trading account and use my captial gains allowance [assuming it all goes in the right direction :-) ] | treeshark
06/12/2012 17:47 | re spreadbetting - I assume this is for a short term trade? If not, the spreads at rollover will kill you on a smallcap like this. | papy02
06/12/2012 17:21 | try spreadex - - they will quote many small caps, more than IG and if it isn't in the list give them a call... | guidfarr
06/12/2012 16:52 | tree not wishing to disappoint but i think it most unlikely you'll find any spbet firm offering this little illiquid tiddler on their platform. If IG don't do it then i figure no one will. I'm sure i read recently that IG were reducing the number of smaller stocks on their platform as it was just too difficult to follow them all. good luck though WC | woodcutter |
