Tickety Tock! Geography shock!

I thought the drill is in the South China Sea but now I think it is in the Nile.

First comes shock, then denial, then anger, before the realisation that it is all over. The fat lady has crooned.

Be careful.

They might make a film out of this. It's got all the elements...

Heist - Somebody's nicked the deposit.
Suspence at Sea - Will the site survey ever get completed ?
Tension - We've hit the gas cloud !!!
Anti-Climax - Not a hydrocarbon in sight.

I'm reasonably certain I've seen at least one drill in the past that analysed the wireline logs and then decided to drill deeper - for whatever reason...

Clutching at straws.....

If the rig is still in situ 15 days from now I'll start to believe the conspiracy theories.

There are multiple data collation services, independent of each other, working together during a drill, eg. mudlogging, LWD, wellsite geologist and even the effective drilling parameters. ALL of that data would these days typically be streamed in real time to those who require it, including and especially Gaz Bisht in town.

At any rate, wireline logging is currently being run to determine definitively what's really going on down hole; strata lithology, fluid type in the reservoir and the porosity thereof, and a confirmation and correlation of all depths, including TD.

I should like to make something clear about this so-called gas cloud. There is nothing special in encountering methane (C1) while drilling through the overburden,in fact it would be paticularly odd were there no gas at all! What's more significant is the appearance of ethane and propane (c2 & C3) and, for an oil play, the timing of when the longer alkanes (C4s & C5s) kick in while approaching the reservoir. What could definitely be said to be odd is the need for the company to publicise such a run of the mill event via RNS before a long weekend...

I must admit to having been caught out somewhat by them reaching TD so early, and completely missed the frantic selling on Tuesday evening prior to the RNS, as 10 days early for a 26 day drill is quite extraordinary.

The curious nature of RNSs made me somewhat suspicious at the time, and other events, such as the deposit going AWOL, does make one wonder what exactly is going on at EME because something doesn't ring true here. I'm certain there's more to this than we're being asked to accept but, frankly, conspiring to deceive shareholders via fake well results is out of the question, or at least unheard of to date..!!.

just to put things in to perspective here, Mino Raiola, aged 54, with all his money, has just died...enjoy the small things in life, stay fit and healthy and show your love to your family!!

Too poor, not always. But I hope no one confuses suspicion with being a bad loser. There looks to be plenty here that requires an explanation or verification.

Agreed, there is not much ordinary shareholders can do. We have to rely on Tom Kelly to ask all the right questions and examine the core samples that came up very carefully to see if they correlate with what the seismic suggested would be the strata encountered at each depth. If there wasn’t any on board independent monitoring during the drilling then we should all be very concerned as to what may have taken place.

Duped by the Chinese in some way or was it all legit? In some ways it's just history and really need to put all efforts into Duyung for now.

And how did Gaz get it so wrong with access to CNOOC data and updated 3D? Commercially is always a major risk but can't get my head around no oil at all with those increased C1 gas clouds.

There seems to be a growing list of ‘events’ with EME that should make Tom Kelly very suspicious about what may have been going on. I hope for our sakes that he is up to the task, with his shareholding he should have plenty of motivation. The missing deposit, speed at which each phase of the drilling appeared to happen, the logging whilst drilling decision, to list just a few. Was there a team of independent observers on the drill rig? If there weren’t, why weren’t there?
TK’s gushing praise for all involved before the drilling and during it did seem a little premature. Why did he think that was necessary?

As everyone else has already expressed , the drilling result was very disappointing. The previous RNS confirming the gas clouds gave further optimism, so my only question is where is the gas coming from? Will the analysis tell us more?

I think P&A and no further SCS development are built in and expected. Can’t see it but any potential future possibilities have been discounted imo

"We plan to conduct a thorough analysis of well log data before deciding the next step in Block 29/11."

I hope they also plan to conduct a full market debrief so that we can understand why this didn't come in on prognosis.
