LTHs. I hear talk about oil falling out of favour with the advent of alleged green energy and the electric car. As such, I know majors are investing in the alt sources. What do you see as the best course for o&g small caps? A shift to gas? Or do you think they have the ability to enter the alt market? Tia

Brimsley - you're right in the fact it hasn't flowed commercial yet but wrong in the fact it's a dud! Why would they bother fracing the lowermost zones, surely just move up to the shallower levels as we know the shallower levels are gas saturated. Reason is they want full potential from this, with stimulation they will turn the already dry/ clean flowing gas into commercial levels or they wouldn't bother wasting time with it, reason for delays is permit being granted, once this has been issued and they stimulate it bob's your uncle,we have commercial gas flow and all your negative deramp posts will be for nothing, you will be consuming a big piece of humble pie! Enjoy.

Good summary from 'jophda' in Oz

"The market is bored with the delays and thinks that the well is a bit of a dud .
The market is sceptical that this is a major discovery , it is not paying attention to what G D has plainly said about this well .
It is not hence taking into account the analysis that shows how valuable to SGC a major discovery will be .

The market imho also does not take into account how different the way acreage is acquired in the US compared to Australia and how much information about the success of a well can affect the lease price of surrounding acreage .
G.D specifically pointed that out in his latest Question and Answer session .
In short he has told the market every thing that he has to tell them according to ASX regulations but no more .
He has to walk the fine line between informing the market and looking after shareholders long term interests by not inflating the price of acreage they want to lease .

This well has proved their major premise that the deeper plays hold gas .
There is a huge amount of gas in place .
Very importantly no water and of a gas quality that does not need to go through a gas plant before going to sales .
The meter station is right at the rig site .

Yes they have to prove that commercial rates can be achieved , but there are stimulation to take place and higher zones yet to be tested .

IMHO I think that this well will prove to be a success but it is going to take a while , but patience will be rewarded .
