The next bidder is waiting in the wings for the current bid to run out of steam at which point they will jump in with a knock out bid.

They don't want to get in a bidding war at this early stage

107p to 117p in a post vaccine world is derisory and I’m glad to see it was rejected almost instantly. I still stand by my view that it would need to be 200p plus to be considered and the company should not go for less than 250p.

It was trading at 180p before COVID in January so once demand picks up it will be there again within 12 months.

This outfit seem to be a set of vultures looking for a bargain. As a long term holder I would vote against anything sun 200p

There will be a number of potential bidders in the wings ready to pounce

still too low-. They need to offer 150p at the very least and even then it is not much compensation for long term holders who have suffered here.
ELM has some high quality assets and I am glad the management are not playing ball. HOLD.

Agreed. The offer is derisory, hoping to catch holders paralysed by Covid before recovery has a chance.

I have added to my holding. Even if another bid is not forthcoming inn the near future, I think the initial bid gives a good idea of the absolute minimum the company is worth.

Seems to be pricing in an improved offer or future prospects.
150p purleeeeeeeze.

Having said that if they don't table an offer it might retrace back to 70-80p I'd imagine, certainly hope not although might provide some cheap shares.

No chance it goes for 150, they would need to at least double their bid for it to even start to be seriously considered

Definitely an opening gambit I think.

It's a cyclical business but I feel it will eventually come good, however I remember there was a lot of criticism when they made a major acquisition a while ago which initially knocked the share price

My gut feeling says it will go for about 150P but who knows. A bird in the hand and all that.

Didn't even realise there had been a bid until I read this board. I really thought the recent rally was little more than the general recent UK stocks bounce. Still very cheap.

Babbler,
I'm not familiar with CDM, I assume the suggestion is they rolled over as they were keeping their jobs?

I may be wrong I'm of the opinion any buyer will probably install their own management.

Either way it's good they have not rolled over. I'm keeping some powder dry in case there is a pull back but in 1-2 years the share price could be back to 150-200 if normality returns to the world. ELM has positioning itself for growth.

If that was the case they would ha e rolled over and taken the first offer like cdm did?

I can see an increased offer of 10-15%, doubt it will be accepted.
But if they go hostile could flush others out.

Personally in the current uncertain environment 135-150p would be decent imo.

Directors will be more concerned with keeping their jobs, they haven't got much skin in the game as per shares themselves.

Wonder why people selling now when management said that and clearly will be a 2nd offer after this one?.

The Board of Elementis considered the Conditional Proposal together with its financial adviser, Rothschild & Co, and concluded that the Conditional Proposal significantly undervalued Elementis and its future prospects. Accordingly, on 10 November 2020 the Board of Elementis unanimously rejected the Conditional Proposal

I would suggest any offer price that was set before Nov 9th now needs some "adjustment". :-)
