If it was attractive to a Private Equity Buyer back then, it must be much more attractive today especially given STG.

NOTE DATE - 19 years ago!

From Indepedent

The chief executive of Elementis, the speciality chemicals group, yesterday quit abruptly after failing to sell the company and wider boardroom disagreements.

Last month, Elementis announced that it was no longer in takeover talks, as an "acceptable offer" had not emerged. The company announced an approach by an unnamed private equity house in December, then offered the company for sale.

Elementis said Lyndon Cole, chief executive for more than two years, had resigned "by mutual consent". Jonathan Fry, the non-executive chairman, will immediately take on a full-time executive role until a replacement for Mr Cole can be found.

Mr Fry said: "A range of management issues have been debated at the board. This situation was exacerbated by the sale [process]."

Just looking in here, to clarify then, the company expects £100M profit for 2019, markets are weak so let's say £80M for 2020. Current market cap is approx £250M so it's on a p/e of just 3? And it has £250M in the bank incl cancelled divi?! Bearing in mind the debt is fairly high but it must surely be easy to start bringing that down with that amount of cash and cashflow??I would see this as a strong recovery play on an 18 month basis.

Yep - yesterday was my first purchase having watched this since 2007! I am a happ(ier) chap as a result.

I have to say that if I could predict the divi chop then so could those much closer to the company and so it had been discounted.

Well done to those that said dividend will go. Good update and looks like company has plenty of working capital to get through the crisis. Company priced to fail so should see a bounce.

Interesting update / article RE : Coronovirus on the Elementis Global company website ::

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak around the globe has caused great concern about the impact on people and businesses. As with many global companies, Elementis has been monitoring the situation very closely and has implemented many preventative measures to reduce the risk of exposure to our employees and our businesses.
First and foremost, we want to assure our customers that we are operating safely. In addition, Elementis has taken proactive measures to reduce risk to our supply chain; and in turn, enable us to continue to meet our commitments to customers. These measure include:
Working with suppliers regarding supply of our raw materials and reviewing contingency plans to reduce likelihood of disruption in our supply chain.
Developing robust site-by-site contingency plans to help us limit the impact of employee exposure and absences.
Establishing an executive COVID-19 team who have been in place since January and proactively took measures to communicate with our employees, implement preventative measures and provide guidance to reduce exposure and risk to our employees.
Continuous monitoring of federal, state and local briefings regarding potential and actual outbreaks while working closely with local agencies to minimize any potential impact and
Engaging our supply chain partners including the railroads and trucking companies to confirm they have adequate plans in place to mitigate any impact to services.
We have a robust global footprint, well-established capabilities in various regions and multiple distribution centers with inventory and safety stock that positions us well in the face of these unprecedented times.
The safety of our workforce and the commitments to our customers are of utmost importance, and we feel at this time we can respond and minimize potential impact to our business and yours.
