The words "Quickly" and "Nuclear Power" don`t go together!

Gas is going to be needed to provide us with power well into the future, it is actually the cleanest fossil fuel, yes it does make sense to pay the Russians billions for using their gas whilst we are sitting on an ocean of it.

If Tories give communities the right to challenge on-shore wind farms, then I can see that the same rights could be used to stop fracking.

It is one thing to frack in US which is enormous land mass compared to UK. In US it should be possible, though dont know if it is necessarily done, to site fracking well away from communities. Also, if the US open cast coal mining industry is anything to go by, they don't care much for environment.

Cameron is obviously keen on fracking, but I can see him having opposition from his own party over this. Personally, I'm against.

The main, large scale alternative is nuclear. I wouldn't be keen to have a nuclear power station close but I believe we have to get our act together and build/ replace these; and pretty quickly!

I hold ALK but not EDR. Well not directly.

This is just such a ridiculous discussion. It is just a matter of when not if. The world will begin to run out of fossil fuels in the not too distant future so does any sane person really think we will leave that oil and gas in the shale rock just because there might be a small risk? So if you accept it is bound to happen eventually we might as well go ahead now and reduce our energy reliance on dodgy countries as listed above!

Yes, lets Continue buying Russian gas and pouring billions into their economy so that they can continue to afford to threaten us, its not as if our economy needs the cash or jobs.
