(Chemicals giant Ineos is to announce plans to invest up to $1bn (£640m) in shale gas exploration and production in the UK, the BBC understands)

With Igas looking to steady imo, and may be even take off if AA gives good interview - do you think EDR will take off in sympathy?

Thinks hard it to but a few thousand and then re-vist every month and then loo at selling 9/10 yrs down the road.

Read that edr good candidtdate fro bid and imo it is possibel and agree with the brokers comments and imo after confrmation14th round who has what some co may want to buy edr?

There was a long (8 page) and useful article on the UK shale gas sector in last week's "Shares" magazine (6th. November 2014 issue).

Online, it's only available in full to subscribers at the moment, but will be available to all online after a few weeks / months.

The article features IGAS, EDR, and EOG.

We examine the prospects for UK shale gas in the coming months as efforts to exploit this potential energy source ramp up

At 2pm on 28 October the deadline for submissions to the UK 14th onshore oil and gas licensing round closed. This process is expected to be a litmus test of appetite to get involved in the nascent UK shale gas industry. Investor excitement about UK ... "

Rogerlin, off hand, I don't think much was said about it. I think this was due to the environmental sensitivity over the well (Paris basin, I think). A good question for the 12th December.

Does anyone recall ever seeing any result for the Huiron-1 well in France (EDR 15%) which was drilled to TD on 21.3.13 and was suspended while the results were analysed?

As is often the case a set of results rarely adds anything to one’s sum knowledge of the situation and todays finals to July prove the point. Egdon produced 86,870 barrels of oil equivalent last year up from 79,947 giving revenue of £2.96m against £3.34m last year. In the period, Egdon acquired Alkane’s shale gas interests, farmed-out to Total as well as doing an option deal with them which smartly has carried them very substantially for the future. Add in the Scottish Power option and two fund raises totalling £10m, along with the Wressle well ‘indicating hydrocarbons’, then all seems set fair for Egdon to be a leading participant in the exciting prospects in both conventional and unconventional exploration coming up in the next 18 months.

It will rise in the coming weeks. Because Shale is America's saviour,it has made the price of coal plummet and the oil price to drop. The Yanks no longer rely on fuel imports as we do. Our Politicians can smell the money making coffee under ground too and want more than a cup full of it. Its reasonably free and in plentiful supply. And Egdon are sitting on a lot of it as are igas. I hold both.
