But EDEN doesn't have two bob to rub together.... so it being successfully sued for a million times more than its realisable net worth isn't really newsworthy.

Unless its idiot PIs or at least the largest ones have given actionable liquidity guarantees. By knowingly promoting a dud, something the directors have been o-so-careful to avoid doing, they may have acquired UNLIMITED LIABILITY per FSMA2000.

Breaking News: ICAN Obtains Court Order Requiring CDC to Release V-Safe Data that Includes Over 137 Million Health Entries Made After COVID-19 Vaccines

In December 2021, ICAN announced that it was suing to obtain data from v-safe, the new smartphone-based program that the CDC deployed to track adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination.

According to the CDC, v-safe allows users to “quickly and easily share with CDC how you, or your dependent, feel after getting a COVID-19 vaccine.” As we shared before, the data from v-safe is “collected, managed, and housed on a secure server by Oracle,” a private technology company, in the form of “aggregate deidentified data,” meaning it does not contain personal health information. This means the data could be shared with the public, just as it is shared with Oracle.

As part of ICAN’s steadfast commitment to hold the CDC to its promise of providing “timely and transparent information about the safety of vaccines to … the public,” ICAN, through its attorneys, headed by Aaron Siri, submitted legal demands for the v-safe data – specifically demanding, “All de-identified data submitted to v-safe since January 1, 2020.”

Despite the CDC’s ability to immediately release this deidentified data pursuant to its own protocol, the CDC took the position that “the information in the app is not de-identified” and so it would not produce it. Thus, in December 2021, ICAN sued. ICAN also submitted an additional request to address the agency’s objection, demanding, “All data submitted to v-safe since January 1, 2020,” and when the CDC still refused to release the data, ICAN sued again.

Now, after months of litigation, the court has ordered that, by September 30, 2022, the CDC must produce the first batch of over 19 months’ worth of data collected from tens of millions of v-safe participants between December 14, 2020 and July 31, 2022!

This is a huge win for ICAN and for the American public, who will finally start to be able to see for themselves the actual self-reported nationwide data about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines. Be sure to sign up for ICAN’s newsletter to get a notification when the data is released!

Why Most Published Research Findings Are False.

There is increasing concern that most current published research findings are false. The probability that a research claim is true may depend on study power and bias, the number of other studies on the same question, and, importantly, the ratio of true to no relationships among the relationships probed in each scientific field. In this framework, a research finding is less likely to be true when the studies conducted in a field are smaller; when effect sizes are smaller; when there is a greater number and lesser preselection of tested relationships; where there is greater flexibility in designs, definitions, outcomes, and analytical modes; when there is greater financial and other interest and prejudice; and when more teams are involved in a scientific field in chase of statistical significance. Simulations show that for most study designs and settings, it is more likely for a research claim to be false than true. Moreover, for many current scientific fields, claimed research findings may often be simply accurate measures of the prevailing bias. In this essay, I discuss the implications of these problems for the conduct and interpretation of research.

Reproducibility in science: improving the standard for basic and preclinical research

Medical and scientific advances are predicated on new knowledge that is robust and reliable and that serves as a solid foundation on which further advances can be built. In biomedical research, we are in the midst of a revolution with the generation of new data and scientific publications at a previously unprecedented rate. However, unfortunately, there is compelling evidence that the majority of these discoveries will not stand the test of time. To a large extent, this reproducibility crisis in basic and preclinical research may be as a result of failure to adhere to good scientific practice and the desperation to publish or perish. This is a multifaceted, multistakeholder problem. No single party is solely responsible, and no single solution will suffice. Here we review the reproducibility problems in basic and preclinical biomedical research, highlight some of the complexities, and discuss potential solutions that may help improve research quality and reproducibility.
