02/10/2017 08:32 | Let the shorters scramble for shares begin :-) | tlobs2
02/10/2017 08:28 | Mastey,Isn't the internet great? One can simply scroll through the backlog of postings to reveal the 'trolls' and 'idiots'.November dividend to come and shortly thereafter 100mill passengers per annum. TCG pilots to strike again.......... | calabrian
02/10/2017 08:25 | Glad I bought Friday, sweet spot for EZJ | che7win
02/10/2017 08:23 | Landscape looks so good for EZJ, now italians, monarch and germans go broke | middlesboroughfc
02/10/2017 08:20 | I recall I was ridiculed by one when saying some 6 months ago Ryanair had staffing issues and Monarch was finished. | mastey
02/10/2017 07:55 | This is indeed good news for EZY - chunky capacity coming out of the market. | nigelpm
02/10/2017 07:25 | Monarch are finished. Ryanair have been exposed. | calabrian
02/10/2017 06:56 | Greetings from Berlin. Flight out last Friday was full apart from five or six seats, it left on time, arrived on time and in flight service was good. I can see why EasyJet are so popular :-) From Friday....... EasyJet: Credit Suisse reiterates Outperform with a target price of 1583p. | tlobs2
02/10/2017 06:53 | Lets see I reckon EZJ share price will be higher in a couple of years time and I will get a very juicy yield. If Government collapses and Brexit goes pear shaped then it is likely to go down but so will most other UK shares so I am gambling on that not happening. | amt
02/10/2017 06:34 | What just like the collapse of Altalia was meant to be good for the market. And the collapse of Air Berlin was meant to be good for the market? I don't think so. RyanAir used their recent rostering problems as the excuse for pulling out of talks to buy parts of Alitalia. A very convenient excuse...... Even with Monarch's demise, the short-haul sector remains bloated beyond belief with seats. It will need a lot more venting of excess seat capacity to help the sector than little old Monarch going to The Wall. You ain't seen nothing yet. Next to be hit will be corporate results and profitability for the remaining operators. It's ugly, ugly, ugly. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
02/10/2017 06:17 | You aint seen nothing yet regarding sterling if JC wins. Monarch news is good news for EZJ. Should be good week ahead for share price but never easy to predict the market. Hope the employees get re employed. The pounds fall encourages people to travel to uk so it works both ways. Overall strong growth in number of passengers. Alitalia is in longhaul a very different market with overcapacity. | amt
01/10/2017 19:00 | Sterling already collapsed. Two years ago, one euro cost 70p. Nowadays you are lucky to buy one for a quid. This is another major factor affecting UK passengers, not the cost of travel, but the significantly higher cost when abroad in Europe. You see if the market was as buoyant as some would have you believe, there be enough crumbs to go around for everybody. Whereas in reality, Alitalia have gone bust, Air Berlin have gone bust, Monarch are teetering on the cliff edge and Ryanair have cancelled enormous volumes of flights. Looks like it is just getting worse and that's before you throw the Brexit mega-mess into the mix which impacts some airlines more than others. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
01/10/2017 11:41 | I would be buying a lot more EZJ if it wasnt for the very unsettling political situation. It fills me with dread that Jeremy or Borris could become prime minister. I think if that looks on the cards I would sell up all my UK assets to protect against collapse in sterling and the possibilty of economic ruin as the source of funding the epic budget deficit dries up. | amt
01/10/2017 10:57 | Reminder that Easyjet were optimistic last time reported so I am expecting another bullish report. | amt
01/10/2017 10:45 | Capital growth doubled over 5 & 10 years. Trebled over 15 years. Its easy just to pull a couple of dates at random to try to proove a point. I take a scientific objective approach. Such investments in stock market need to be taken on longterm approach. 10 years I would suggest. Its as near a perfect market as an economist would define it and the airlines own models of flexing prices to match demand supports that. Very competative of course but thats how it should be and that defines the perfect market. Airlines that dont operate efficiently will go bust and thats how free markets work. The only negatives from free market are difficulty of new entrants getting in on the act and that gives the Easyjet and Ryanair advantages and helps them to be so profitable. Ryanairs problems were self inflicted nothing to do with a difficult market place. The opposite actually ie Not keeping up with demand infact. The market has is very healthy with growing demand and falling or stable fuel prices. Number of target passengers expected to double in next 20 years | amt
30/9/2017 18:31 | See Monarch are in the news again.. | chiefbrody
30/9/2017 18:13 | Capital growth? £19 in 2015 to £12 now Perfect Market? It's the worst operating environment for years due to extreme competition that's why Air Berlin went bust and RyanAir are having such well-publicised problems. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
30/9/2017 17:30 | Well as a regular passenger on Easyjet times are great. I get cheap flights and good service. As a shareholder I get very good dividends and capital growth. Its s win win as I stated as close to a perfect market as you can get in times of globalisation. They are buying planes to meet demand by the way which is and will continue to grow. | amt
30/9/2017 11:27 | 90%+ Capacity is excellent.I'd struggle to believe it was possible but of the occasional EZJ and many RYN flights i've been on, they've all been chokka.Next 5 years will be very interesting re consolidation in the industry. | chiefbrody
30/9/2017 08:15 | No. It demonstrates that they have all bought more planes in a mad competitive race. And are forced to fill them by offering ever cheaper fares. Not necessarily profitably. I am sure you will have read today's Weekend FT and will have seen the comment on page 12 in the leader column about RyanAir "It is still not clear why a relatively minor change in regulations-counting pilots' flying hours over a calendar rather than a fiscal year- should have caused so much disruption" Food for thought. I don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of that one. Flying planes which are not pretty full however would do no good for the market's monthly addiction to seeing ever increasing load factors. Again and again, the mass market is demonstrated to be driven by prices. RyanAir understand this better than anyone. The demographic which values PRICE ABOVE EVERY OTHER CONSIDERATION is exponentially greater than the demographic which wants to pay a higher price for better service. - If it's cheap enough, they'll put up with almost anything and still come back in droves. This is why the RyanAir debacle will be a storm in a teacup and their seat sale at £9.99 will, as I said yesterday, ensure mass amnesia. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
30/9/2017 07:50 | Dont understand your point QP. I thought you reckoned there is overcapacity but these numbers show strong growth in passenger numbers which demonstrates the opposite if anything. Wizzair stands out but I suspect thats on lower numbers overall so a percentage doesnt mean a lot. We will only know the impact of the current debacle at Ryanair going forward. My point is that Easyjet will possibly gain because they have always been a reliable airline with high customer satisfaction. Anyway the question you need to answer is how does strong growth in three large airlines equal overcapacity. That I dont understand at all. It looks like a perfect market. Several competitors plenty of growth and leaders making very good profits. | amt
29/9/2017 22:55 | The Rolling 12 month passenger figures to end August 2017 tell a very different story:- RyanAir: +13% EasyJet: +9.2% WizzAir: +22.4% ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
29/9/2017 22:10 | The reality is with all lowcost airlines you generally only get very cheap flights if you book a longtime in advance. Easyjet are filling their aircraft to 94% which is very impressive and it explains why they are expanding and picking up aircraft from Air Berlin where possible. | amt |
