20/5/2024 10:05 | Stagvalley, I was previously invested in Duke, but was not happy with the quality of some of the businesses and of the opinion that the 6%royalty on their sales was a real drag on the businesses. Personally I think there are bigger and better established BDCs in the US with better yields. | tag57
20/5/2024 09:38 | If we separate share price movements from an assessment of the company, does anyone have concerns about their risk profile and investments? From my perspective it all looks good. The share price hasn't gone anywhere over the last few years but I like the business model and the dividend is strong, seemingly robust, and growing. Apart from disappointment in share price growth, I'd be interested if anyone has serious concerns about the business model. The only failed investment I'm aware of is a cruise company during the pandemic. Seems to me a good use of about 5 percent of a portfolio. Anyone disagree? For the person who finds Advfn unuseable on a phone due to adverts, that was my experience until I got a free version of Avast. Now fine. | stagvalley
30/4/2024 14:10 | A well written analysis IMO. | piedro
24/4/2024 17:35 | Drifting back Tempted to add at this price ( although I have a few )Love the dividend and it's been fairly consistent | panshanger1
14/4/2024 13:11 | Yes New Path looks to have a great growth runway in front of it. 15% equity stake to boot. Anybody buying at present price? | flyer61

03/4/2024 09:48 | Pleased to see that they are supporting New Path Fire & security with further follow-on investments.. This is a great company in their portfolio. All companies and businesses have to comply with stringent fire regs today. The inspections are normally done on an annual basis hence this means lot's of repeat trade with companies having not much choice but to use their services.. The industry is also pretty fragmented with loads of small companies dotted around the country. Many only employ just a handful of staff and imo many would be open to be acquired by a larger operator. So, imo, a buy and build strategy seems logical. Businesses like New Path usually end-up getting sold at large premiums themselves further down the line so i would expect this be a very profitable business partnership with DUKE over the next few years. | cfro

02/4/2024 08:45 | stagvalley Seems a reliable company with no serious issues over several years and a good income stream. Anyone disagree? (On my phone, I can only look at ADFVN for 5-10 seconds before on advert supplants my page so I may give up. They only want paying customers at £20/month I think?). There is an ADVFN APP which I use and it doesn't do that on my phone.......Worth a try? | davebowler
28/3/2024 17:41 | I suspect you are unable to read accounts Tristone is a buy and build strategy £917k of goodwill amortisation is non cash business appears to be profitable excluding amortisation. EBITDA is a large number I would happily invest in both Duke and Tristone AIMHO GLA BTG | btgman
28/3/2024 15:25 | I had a look at Tristone Healthcare where they have invested £19m according to their website. I would be interested how much anyone here would lend them based on those accounts. It may just be one example from their portfolio but for that reason I could not invest here despite the yield. | tiswas
28/3/2024 11:25 | It would be nice to see an increase in the div as it is 2 years since the last increase | stoph
28/3/2024 10:05 | Thanks Didn't see the update | panshanger1

28/3/2024 09:58 | Why strange? They put out another positive trading udpate which justifies at least a 5% rise in my view (so about 3% once taking off dividend). | riverman77
28/3/2024 09:41 | Strange price action on ex dividend day Interesting to see if this holds | panshanger1
28/3/2024 08:50 | Stock ex dividend today | panshanger1
28/3/2024 07:31 | Continuing steady progress. | this_is_me
22/3/2024 08:10 | With lower interest rates on the horizon this will lead to higher profits and higher dividends for Duke shareholders imho | senttothegallows
21/3/2024 07:40 | The yield is well above the current rate of inflation so I am happy with the regular payments into my ISA. | this_is_me
15/3/2024 19:10 | Duke's recent exit from an investment with a 70%+ Capital gain with a potential deferred element still to come shows it is so much more than simply a yield play but even solely as a yield/annuity play it is a stunning investment. Watch what happens when interest rates drop. AIMHO GLA BTG | btgman
15/3/2024 13:55 | Duke is a yield play. I doubt there will ever be material capital gain. If they continue increasing revenues they may increase the dividend. The current ~8.5% yield does not need capital gain to qualify as good return. | feddie
15/3/2024 13:15 | Well if IC recommend this, I'm definitely out. Happy to sell at over 33p today. The shares have done little since Aug 2021, other than fall sharply then fluctuate in the lower 30s for the past 18 months. Waste of time. The recent rise is probably down to the IC rec as mug punters buy in. At least made a half-decent profit including div, which I wasn't expecting, but I won't be buying DUKE again. | bend1pa
11/3/2024 11:52 | Big line gone through | panshanger1
07/3/2024 17:03 | Very useful to see the Fairmed exit is likely to generate IRR in the high teens. That was not clear to me from yesterday's RNS. Fabrikat exit at IRR 36% looks to be their 2nd highest exit IRR - see slide 14 of | metis20 |
