This breakout reaffirms DS Smith as the leader of the FTSE250 in market capitalisation and in these terms now currently ahead of 23 Companies within the FTSE100.

Naked trader interested in these now. One of his strategies is picking sticks about to get in ftse 100.

DS Smith once again heads the FTSE 250 index with the present market capitalisation. It also exceeds that of seventeen Companies within the current FTSE 100. I would suggest that it is only a matter of time before promotion.

This looks expensive as an investor - compare to SKG the market leader in this product sector. The mrket caps are almost the same but the ebitda and profit at SKG is significantly better - both are very good companies but at these prices one is over valued and / or one is undervalued. So from an investment point of view this is one to be cautious of at these prices..

churchtower - "Finding it difficult to understand the negative market reaction"

The MM's always have a hidden agenda, us poor little PI's will never know what goes on in their minds.

Far too many people listening to the media muppets every word on BREXIT and arriving at the wrong conclusion most of the time haha.

Slowly edging back up to the recent previous high of 508. As an investor rather than a short sighted trader I cannot imagine why anyone should wish presently to sell this share after the latest trading statement and the increased prospects resulting from the US acquisition.

My apologies AdamB if you thought I was looking for an argument. I now recognise the actual intention in your choice of words, with which I fully agree.

Finding it difficult to understand the negative market reaction, with statements such as 'Has Been An Encouraging Start To Year With Trading In Line With Our Expectations and Rate Of Like For Like Volume Growth Being Well Ahead Of Comparative Period Last Year.'

As am I. Rather than assume that you're just looking for an argument, I'll just say that I think you re-read my post completely differently to the intention of it

Content to be bored if that is what such a positive and confident statement can elicit. Clearly our thresholds of boredom differ. As a longer term investor this is the type of news which ensures that I remain a holder.

Nice boring trading statement from SMDS this morning - exactly what they're good at. Keep on quietly executing....

Unless SMDS rises above the automatic entry level, another share has to leave the FTSE100 by falling below the automatic exit level.

After the decision only yesterday to leave DS Smith in the FTSE 250 I am deeply cynical about the manner and mechanics of promotion and demotion within the indices. One cannot but help feeling that manipulation of share prices has taken place. This is reinforced by the situation we see today with DS Smith once again above Berkeley Holdings in market capitalisation and also above thirteen Companies presently in the FTSE 100.

Oh well, SMDS miss out on FTSE 100 this time round. Must have been close. Next quarter then.....
