NMC Healthcare now leads the FTSE250 in market capitalisation on the the announcement of expansion plans. DS Smith in second place.

The quarterly review of the constituents of the FTSE indices is nearly upon us and if I am correct the start of such a process is the release of the indicative files which is due on Wednesday. DS Smith continues to lead the FTSE 250 and there are now nine Companies in the FTSE 100 with market capitalisations less than DS Smith.

One thing I really like about DS Smith is that it clearly communicates its financial targets for the year. Granted, it operates in a steady industry but the communication is clear and it means they can then be held accountable

DS Smith at this price of 501 - PER 15.4, PEG 0.8 and yield 3.05%.Continues to lead the FTSE 250 with a market capitalisation of 5083.39 million with 204.61 million advantage over the nearest rival Berkeley Holdings. It also now has a market cap above eight current members of the FTSE100. CH.

Looks as if I will now have to revise my suggested 12 month target upwards to 550 - 560. The US acquisition and promotion to the FTSE 100 are the main reasons for this change of view.

DS Smith plc (LON:SMDS) was upgraded by equities researchers at Berenberg Bank to a "buy" rating in a research report issued to clients and investors on Thursday. The firm currently has a GBX 550 ($7.25) target price on the stock, up from their previous target price of GBX 400 ($5.28). Berenberg Bank's target price would indicate a potential upside of 14.46% from the company's current price.

I totally concur. Invested a couple of weeks ago, but have known the company for many years. The prospective promotion to the FTSE 100 was the spur I needed to get in as the index trackers will need to buy in and hopefully this will boost the price.

I continue to regard DS Smith as one of the best steady investments for the longer term available at the moment. Dividend and the prospect of promotion to the FTSE 100 further enhance the attraction. CH.
