26/7/2011 14:01 | 26/07/2011 " Stonework 'Helps Differentiate Dominos' " Fernhill Stone has been chosen by Domino's Pizza Group to play a key role in a major programme to refresh its 600 plus outlets throughout the UK and Ireland. It could eventually be used in more than 1,000 outlets if the Group reaches the ambitious expansion targets it has set for itself over the coming years. "We have a policy of refreshing and refitting our stores every five years or so," explains Philip Young, Project and Development Manager, Domino's Pizza Group UK & Ireland. "This differentiates us from other food outlets. The new design will see our stores having predominantly dark brown walls in timber effect laminate board. The counter is red synthetic marble with the word 'Domino's' etched into it. On one wall we will be incorporating a feature made up of the Fernhill Stone Mathios product. It gives that natural stone feel that we were looking for." | philanderer

25/7/2011 20:00 | Investors Chronicle update today says buy... 'Domino's answers doubters' 25 July 2011 A 2.4 per cent increase in underlying sales at Domino's Pizza may not sound like much, but given the strength of the comparable performance a year ago it was more than enough to convince the market that worries over slowing organic growth had been misplaced, with the shares leaping 6 per cent on its half-year results. Overall system sales from the group's 688 franchised outlets climbed 9 per cent to £258m, but operational gearing meant pre-tax profits climbed even faster, up 14.8 per cent to £20.1m. That effect is likely to become even more pronounced as the business moves steadily towards its 1,200 target. In the first half, 22 stores opened and finance director Lee Ginsberg said existing franchisees, who currently operate an average of five outlets each, are keen to add more stores. What we said: Buy When: 7 July 2011 Price then: 413p Price now: 485p Change: +17% SHARE TIP UPDATE: Buy New product launches - including a gourmet range to take on Pizza Express - and heavy investment in branding are expected to keep trading momentum going, and the purchase of a master franchise agreement in Germany adds another potentially lucrative long-term twist. Buy. -------------------- Guardian: 'Domino's Pizza tops up marketing budget to challenge upmarket rivals' Domino's Pizza reports profits up 15% to £20m on first-half sales of £237m up 9%, despite 'very tough operating climate' | philanderer
