16/10/2008 17:08 | well investors are running scared at the moment(dont they say thats the best time to buy shares)and the small private investor is in danger of becoming extinct.but what annoys me,i got my copy of the shares magazine this morning and again nothing about the dmatek bid situation.now i always thought shares magazine was into small shares(after all we can find out about the larger companies from numerous sources) but i have noticed since the market crash that shares magazine seems to have avoided mentioning much about small cap companies.i know small cap company shareprices get hit hard in a recession but i do think they are doing there readers a disservice by not reporting more on small caps in this difficult period for shareholders.after all there are some good stories out there amongst the small caps,in fact one springs to mind but i just cant recall the name........ as always dyor | funchalman

16/10/2008 13:37 | Think this is from daily mail today. Never read it too left of centre for me. Electronic tag company Dmatek, which is in bid talks, rose 6p to 1371/2p. Ex-Goldmans analyst Matt Butlin at Novum Securities reckons takeover talks aside, the company is well run, undervalued and enjoying the cushion of 37p per share of cash on the balance sheet. He sees 60pc upside from current levels. | gerdmuller
16/10/2008 09:17 | these things take time, but if LMS did indicate to dmatek a low figure of £1.60 i am quite sure dmatek would have shown them the door there and then, and that would have been the end of it.i think that israeli news story breaking the bid news was probably right about the figure of £44 million and negotiations started from that figure.dont forget that big contract in the usa signed just a few days before the story broke.and if a bid is negotiated i think it will be cash, not paper,or cash and paper,LMS have the cash and they will not get a better opportunity to spend it wisely.if the negotiations come to nothing then i can see dmatek change direction and start paying dividends if they dont have another aquisition on the near horizon, lets face it they can easily afford to now. oh well its all exciting stuff, just keep an eye on the newsfeeds. and as always in these difficult times dyor | funchalman
15/10/2008 10:26 | being walked up a tiny bit on no volume at all, haven't looked at plus markets though. | holts
14/10/2008 21:19 | got a few more but had to go 3p over the offer, trade not showing here, bid or not I see scope to add value here over next six months. DYOR. | elmfield
13/10/2008 19:43 | a classic market for a bidder, the info is in the public domain and the price goes down , and most people are to scared to invest , and the proffesionals dont seem to care or think there is absolutely no way lms are going to come up with a decent offer, probably got other things on their mind right now though. Good for you elm. | holts
13/10/2008 19:35 | put a buy order in mid afternoon at up to 10k at 127, they said I could have 1k at that price, I didn't bother, news tomorrow? maybe? | elmfield
10/10/2008 10:06 | have added some more in my sipp since the bid talk, short term a bit of a gamble on the bid,if the bid does not come off then a good long term hold. however i think something will happen re the bid. good luck all. as always dyor | funchalman
10/10/2008 09:45 | any one thinking of adding? | elmfield
10/10/2008 09:38 | with thanks to Volsung | holts
10/10/2008 09:35 | Being cynical , financial hardship leads to an increase in crime leads to an increase in business for DTK, will LMS see better bargains elsewhere, but they know dtk dont need them , so a fair price should be paid, but what is a fair price in a climate of financial fear. | holts
10/10/2008 09:31 | well small group abacus has just been sold in an agreed bid for £43 million and they had £62 million in debt,so what price dmatek? | funchalman
10/10/2008 08:48 | suppose if lms do walk away long term we will do o.k. | elmfield
10/10/2008 08:44 | This is true, machines have taken over decision making, so the apprenticeship of financing has gone , along with it the judgement, and we are were we are as a result. | holts
09/10/2008 09:18 | elmfield, not much else they could say in the circumstances. this will be decided by the large shareholders as ever. lms have a share in inflexion. at £44 million its obviously a good deal for lms,the price comes down to £37 million with around the £7 million pounds dmatek have in the bank.dmatek could make near £5 million full year pretax profit this year, its obviously not going to take long for lms to recoup the purchase price. the history of dmatek really shows the stupidity of the stock markets at times. in the dotcom boom not long after floating with profits of £0.5 million or so the shareprice went to over £3.now with possible profits of £5 million coming up and a possible offer of £2 per share, the share price is £1.27 , you have to laugh. | funchalman |
