08/9/2017 10:53 | Just added c 168ish...good yield and correction due...170 seems to be teh glass ceiling to break through.. "It's always a good idea to keep a close eye on director dealings. After all, if anyone has inside knowledge of a company's future prospects then surely it's the bosses themselves. That's why directors' buying and selling activity is often closely monitored and widely publicised. New Ferrari But, as with most things in life, it's not always as straightforward as it seems. For example, it's very possible that a director has sold a big chunk of his or her holding simply because they are splashing out on a new yacht, Ferrari, country mansion or divorce settlement. So it's always best to view such dealings as triggers for further research, rather than outright buy or sell signals. Personally, I always find it interesting when there is heavy buying activity from directors shortly after a profits warning. Here, company bosses may feel the market has over-reacted to what they perceive as short-term fixable issues. But this can sometimes be a ploy to shore up investor confidence. Oh, I'm such a cynic! iPhone 8 A great recent example of this would be FTSE 100 electricals giant Dixons Carphone (LSE: DC). In a trading statement issued last month the group said it now expects pre-tax profits for FY2017/18 to be in the range £360m-£4 The earnings downgrade was largely due to weaker mobile phone sales as well as the detrimental effects of lower EU roaming charges. The company said that currency fluctuations had made handsets more expensive ,and this in turn has meant that people are holding on to their mobile phones for much longer. I've been a fan of Dixons Carphone for a while, and although the launch of the new iPhone 8 should help to boost sales in the medium term, I think the risks have now become too great for me to give the stock a buy rating for capital growth. However, the lower share price does make the stock more attractive to income seekers, with the shares now offering a generous yield of 6%, and ample dividend cover of more than two times forecast earnings." | ravin146

07/9/2017 13:16 | I just think that the way that the electricals market is going this company is toast. The balance sheet is shot. And the cash and cash flows are going down. What is going to change that?? I think that a lot of people on here are one stock only people - "best o british best of the high street is the thinking" - (One stock only ? you have to be kidding.) Please for the sake of your health not one stock only! | undervaluedassets
07/9/2017 12:48 | re-post ravin1466 Sep '17 - 20:52 - 1852 of 1906 0 0 Edit Andysaw...you are missing the point. I'm not saying the UK retail sector is not under uncertain times, brexit, currency depreciation, fierce online competition from online large corporates etc I'm here short-medium term. Dixons carphone is a huge high street name. Yes that doesn't stop bad times. For me, on current forecasts, current balance sheet and medium term forecasts, and not forgetting dividend cover, the recent fall is way way overdone, not just on a fundamentalist point of view, but technicals show this will, I say will, rebound. And today we saw that, I said this morning read my posts...just based on technicals is will bounce and it did. Easy 9p based on time periods I have made on frse250 stock in a long time. AIM type rise this is baby steps but than risk is less here. Note this is still forecast to make £360m-440m...i Summary- Short term overdone Imo, dyor. Respect your short view unlike other garbage I've filtered! | ravin146
07/9/2017 12:37 | Apart from last Tuesday, this stock is at its lowest point ever, and again apart from Tuesday, this has never even looked like its going to recover, but a lot on here keep 'banging on' how its going to "recover soon" with no news, facts, information of any kind to support it. There are a lot of new traders that read these boards and react accordingly, so why not give it a rest until you have facts, evidence of a recovery. OK you made a mistake, we all do or did. I was a woolworths and HMV 'victim' and saw this type of ramping on those threads. What am I doing Mr Jones? exactly the same as you! PS .. did that AGM fill you with hope? | right honorable lord lucan

07/9/2017 12:21 | You have a point RHLL its a problem across retail hxxps://www.retail-w However omnichannel seems the way that a lot of retail companies handle it for example Richer Sounds and John Lewis If you go home and find that online carphone warehouse are as competitive online then you have wasted time. If anything goes wrong and you have to return during the warranty period you can at least go back to the shop and deal face to face and get a replacement probably straight away from stock. (Thats assuming customer service is upto scratch). Saves queuing to post the parcel back in the PO or Herpes or whatever they are called hxxps://www.myhermes | s2lowner

07/9/2017 12:14 | Not really. You just wonder what his motivation is exactly. It is not informed opinion relating specifically to DC but simply generalisations that could be aimed at any high street retailer competing with the internet. Appears simply to be trying to wind up DC shareholders - that is why it is so sad!! | rkjones
07/9/2017 12:11 | Hmmm.... maybe I want a cheaper price before suddenly going long !!! (that will do a few people's heads in) That would not be a bad strategy actually. When you are buying a house you want it as cheap as poss and when you are selling you want it as expensive as poss. In a way I am help the bulls to buy more of what they love so much of - and at a cheaper price ... | undervaluedassets
