Having watched PJK comment on this thread I can see his argument that not paying tax on a particular portion of income or investment is indeed a benefit. However, I would like to point out that if this "benefit" was not offered I could happily relocate myself to a tax regime that did offer me some benefits of this type. So the benefit to which PJK refers is one that probably accrues more benefit to the state than it does to me. I think you'll find this is why the latest budget did not squeeze the pips anymore as there comes a tipping point at which I will forego my UK benefit and go elsewhere. And the UK will thus lose the benefit of the much larger benefit I gave to it, than it gave to me.

I thought the clown had me filtered.

The analogy is ridiculous.

Hey looks like I did find the bottom within less than a penny. Think you called me out a tad early bud.

Prof, a final word on this subject, which is a distraction from the investment purpose of the board.

Our views differ. You contend that a mugger with the power to do so confers a 'benefit' on me if he 'choses' not to beat me up and take my watch and wallet. I disagree. I do not consider that a 'benefit' is conferred upon me by a person (or state or institution) which has the power to compel me to hand over what is mine, merely because he (or it) 'choses' not to exercise that power.

It is an ill wind that blows no one any good though. If ever I have the good fortune to meet you, I shall 'choose' not to punch you on the hooter, even though I have the power to do do so. You (in accordance with your philosophy)will regard my forbearance as conferring a 'benefit' upon you, and will I am sure show your gratitude by standing me a pint, which I (in accordance with my philosophy) will regard as a 'benefit' conferred upon me. I shall drink to your good health, as I am sure you will to mine, because we shall each be grateful for the benefit the other has conferred upon him.

I am surprised that consider that my views on this render my views on investments valueless (though they may well, but for other reasons); your money and your judgment though, so I have no hard feelings on that account.

@lab305 I think Rusty owns enough. I don't think we should see more director buys at the moment (although if they wished to do so that would not be a problem). There is a problem for directors which is that when they need some cash it can be a broader issue.

Hence it is not an issue for me as the directors clearly have skin in the game.

What I do is of little relevance here or any of your business. I could say I am an engineer and run my consultancy and have a beach house but seeing as I wouldn't want to run the risk of giving away my identity I couldn't prove any of it. I wouldn't want ignorant morons and crazy folk turning up on my door step.

Your CV doesn't impress me. Not one jot. If you can't show Greta a little respect for what she is trying to do you aren't the sort of human I have much time for. An education and a life-time of experience has been wasted on you. Even worse, you now have a bizarre and delusional sense of self-entitlement. Plenty of those at golf clubs and are heads of business. ;)

Success has just as much to do with opportunity and fortune as it has hard-work. Don't think for one minute that all because you have a fat pension and large salary it is fully earned or deserved. There are plenty of folk just as capable and hard-working as you, who, for one reason or another, find themselves needing benefits just to put food on the table for their families.

From just 10 days ago.

Peel Hunt LLP set a target price of 160 GBX for the company, which when compared to the Diversified Energy Company PLC share price of 118 GBX at opening today (21/10/2021) indicates a potential upside of 26.3%. Trading has ranged between 94 (52 week low) and 131 (52 week high) with an average of 4,268,198 shares exchanging hands daily.
Fundamentals have gone right out of the window. I could understand if the company were not addressing this already. They do need to get some director buys in now to restore confidence.

The fact is the state could choose to tax all the investments in your ISA, could reduce benefits to SIPPs and pensions and remove charitable status from private schools. In short - you do receive benefits.

Just remember that when you start lecturing those who try just as hard as you but find themselves without the same fortune and opportunity and need benefits just to put food on the table for their families.

Filter me if you wish. No problem. No loss to me. I doubt you have anything to add to my investment knowledge anyway.

I have not seen anything particularly in today's announcement on methane that causes me any concerns. I have, as people know, found the details of the announcement onthe EPA website.

I think quite a bit of what they propose is a good idea. However, there may be issues in the detail.
