Have you studied the annual report to find out how much is reserved (in the balance sheet)for retiring wells?

MASSIVE shout out to joedjoed for posting the link. Anybody who read this earlier and held or bought SERIOUSLY needs to reconsider whether they should be dealing in stocks & shares. This is a lambasting report and no matter what reality is the market was always going to respond negatively to this. The secret now is working out where the bottom is to buy back. I think too many people dont ascribe anywhere near enough importance to O&G companies ESG strategies and some could not even explain what it stands for or what it means. If you want to look at a company who has it at the VERY top of their agenda read the sustainability reports from SAVE. Then have a look at what ZPHR are doing!

The hedging provides good long term visibility and is more like a bond. Fantastic yield with potential upside from oil prices rises. Fixed cost base, what's not to like

i have too many now. is it true though that 90% of gas production is hedged? that's not too good given current prices even if the yield is nice?

Just added - although already had a significant holding and wasn't intending to buy more. Couldn't resist at these levels

Bought a few at 95.7p I am sure this is just a cost that is expected in normal business.

It's more than 11.32% as that yield is historic and doesn't include a the full past year's 4 cent/quarter dividend.

Closer on 11.9% at this price (at today's exchange rate).

Well couldn't resist it any longer, bought back in. At 11.32% yield in my SIPP I can wait as long as it takes to recover.

1Knocker,

Well I'm glad that Rusty has some media nous then.

In his position of course, if he had refused to work with Bloomberg they'd have carefully added that into the story making him out to be secretive, shady and have something to hide.

He was damned whatever he did.

I'm still hovering my finger above the buy button as this'll probably go lower on a longer timescale but I can't ignore the current 98p as we may get a bounce.

Yield now almost 12%.

do they hedge all their gas or do they stand to profit from the higher gas price?

Cassini, the fact that there was a carefully crafted response ready to go suggests the opposite to me - they were expecting what Bloomberg published. Bloomberg is a responsible commentator, but they still need a good story to make an article worth publishing, and not every ting they say proves right. To my mind they have merely highlighted one of the costs which gas producers have to provide for, Rusty is not going to have opened his Bloomberg rag and thought to himself 'Deary me, well I never,I never knew about those regulatory issues and costs'. We had a dose of this a few years ago, and all it did was to depress the share price for bit and provide a decent purchase price for canny buyers, while the company went from strength to strength. Courage, mon braves.
