19/1/2024 10:08 | FWIW - I don't have a position here - just making the obvious point that a buyback when your shares are in the doldrums is clearly a good idea. | ![]() nigelpm
19/1/2024 10:05 | When share falls are relentless as they are for DEC it’s almost always because the market knows something we don’t… So suggestions like big buybacks from the likes of nigelpm (who never learns as he said exactly the same ahead of Soco (now Pharos) falling 90%) are not a solution. The solution now is a prompt update that does reassure investors. Another alternative is the dreaded share suspension and often when that happens that’s for good. DEC is a very risky punt that might just pay off if the market has got it wrong. If the market is right then hopefully no-one here among the many here who are still confident in the teeth of evidence that might be wrong, are risking more than they can afford to lose. I sold at a loss as soon as the shares fell away after the US listing and won’t be buying agsin unless a genuinely reassuring update. Good luck to the many who will think this post is rubbish! | ![]() kenmitch

19/1/2024 09:42 | Regarding the dividend I'm sure that the shorters would love to see it cut otherwise they will need to pay it in little over a month's time. | ![]() bountyhunter
19/1/2024 09:41 | What's the dividend yield here, then, 40% ? I thought this would have rebounded on Trumps recent commentry. | ![]() my retirement fund
19/1/2024 09:38 | I agree fordtin. In my earlier post, I wasn't advocating a cut, but simply saying greater clarity and assurance would be useful. Give a clear steer one way or the other. If it's stick with the current level, then get seriously aggressive with the buybacks because there's no easier way for them to preserve cash medium term. | ![]() bluemango
19/1/2024 09:35 | Taken a few down here, GULP! Jeez, 895 not the bottom then! | ![]() lawson27
19/1/2024 09:34 | Those of you who advocate a dividend reduction should look at the like of i3e and RGL to see what happens when companies destroy the confidence of long term holders by slashing dividends. Both of those companies' share prices fell off a cliff immediately and the sell off continued until the dividend yield rose high enough to attract new punters. It’s still unclear whether either have stabilised, or have further to fall. | fordtin

19/1/2024 09:16 | An RNS is not needed every other day it's a waste of time and money Make the most of it by topping up Buybacks should go into overdrive for sure at these levels and I suspect they will | ![]() topazfrenzy
19/1/2024 09:15 | Need another "know of no reason" RNS - probably better off now kicking the buyback into operation than paying the dividend. Best acquisition they can make is their own business. -> I agree with this line of thinking. They need to buy their own shares and keep a dividend not more than 15%. Otherwise this will sink after the dividend is paid. Reduce aggressively the number of shares in circulation and absorb any sellers. | ![]() farrugia |
