Unless the share price weakness is doing the company fundamental damage, why would the management panic, especially if they really have the cash to do some serious buyback.

Now gravity takes hold plus loss of investors confidence will determine the direction DEC. Good luck to those who bought earlier and yesterday and the day before . Hope they don’t desert DEC and buy more now - dividend yield is 19% and still going up 😊

I am inclined to agree. While companies should normally only make statements in response to share price movements when there is a SUDDEN very large movement for no obvious reason, and plenty of other O&G companies have seen drops too (eg i3), the drop in the DEC share price since the dividend was paid has been notably large, particularly coming on top of the previous protracted slide.

The unexpected and (for practical purposes) unexplained departure of the CFO, and the absence so far of any of the significant business developments flagged early in the year, taken in conjunction with the large share price drop do seem to me to warrant an announcement. A reassuring one, I hope!

I bailed at about 74.4p earlier on.

Too many eggs in one basket and I just made an 'executive' decision as it were, to reduce risk.

It may well be this will form a V-bottom and rebound bigly in which case you can consider me the perfect contra-indicator ;0)

As a poster mentioned earlier, the macro situation is concerning - the DXY (Dollar Index is 107.07 and the US 10 Year Treasury yield is now 4.70%, actually down a little from earlier. Both of these numbers are indicative of stress in my book i.e. the flight to 'safety' in the dollar and the selling of bonds.

When they come down, or some shadowy entity (The Fed) starts buying up the bonds that are being sold off the market jitters might abate somewhat and yields come under control...

Is that what's causing this waterfall with DEC? I think probably, but the CFO's rapid unscheduled departure with still no sign of a job to go to is probably not helping here.

I'll be looking to get back into DEC when things have calmed down, probably losing out in the process but hey-ho.

Without any doubt, needs a statement from the company to either say there's no known reason for the market reaction, or to explain what might be behind it.

Whether it's market irrationality or not, they need to make a statement.

Otherwise the snowball effect of stop losses continues.

Just had a couple of goes at $3 in last few minutes. Chart looks like it wants to ping. Of course, DEC don't sell much at this duration but they do sell a little. Not forgetting the NGLs and oils are a small % and have been doing well of late. It's baffling that the shares are going the opposite direction. No doubt all will make sense in time. :-/

But I can tell you it will touch 73p later on and then depend on the trading volumne I can tell you whether it will reach 70p then once it reaches 73p

Topazfrenzy - I agree - to buy in stages to average down and that is the best strategy as no one can predict the bottom, however one must not catch a falling knife on the way down . Many a time , counter that kept on dropping has a reason as I said before , there is no free lunch in Life , that is my advice to everyone buying this counter .

money is made buying up when there is blood everywhere and quite a few shares are bleeding ..

GENL is another one, with Turkish pipeline about to reopen so it could soar 50% quickly from here

Steve, timing an absolute bottom is not my intention, I am adding as it slides down ...

my average is not high in any case so at just over 75p it's a bargain imo although it could go lower of course ... but then again it could shoot up 20% in a flash too

- not the markets demand
- not production in major way
- not in regulations

- what remains is finances. And look FD goes as quickly as i have ever seen. But NO if there was anything , they would tell us

So all is just fine

They are looking at it just now. Could they RNS suspitions of wrongs , mistakes and similar I do not know. Probably not until they know and that can take a lòong time.

Warn away, as I also am firmly in the topazfrenzy camp having just added. At this volume, this is crazy share price action with stop/losses being hit on top of market sentiment. Each to their own, but I am in and in again - time will tell. ;-)
