The exact name of the form, from the official US IRS website, is W-8 BEN.

Perhaps it doesn't matter if the punctuation and spacing are wrong, but a complaint might be taken more seriously if it contains fewer mistakes.

Halifax share account

Read somewhere they can't be bothered to help investors with the US tax form simply not interested.

Why have Halifax deducted 30% from my dividend?

Hi fred177. I also hold an IG ISA, where the DEC dividend, this time, has been taxed at 30% instead of the correct 15%. I have emailed IG to ask for this to be put right.

fred177,

Just check your W8BEN is still valid and if it is contact them and point out their error, they will correct it over the next week or so. I didn't hold for the latest divi but this has happened in the past with them.

Kind regards

My divi is in. A bit down on the last because of the exchange rate, but that should help reduce my bills, so its an ill wind which blows no good. Very glad not to have been living in North America this last week.

No one ever aces the bottom for their entire holding, a decent average is what matters most, buy in over a year or 2 and keep them for a decade, hoover up the dividends and you will own the shares for nothing..

Buy the dips, share prices have softened off due to the GBP strengthening, the buyback stalled too as the Dollar weakened, gas prices might have come off but our hedge prices for 2023/2024 have both gone up locking in increasing revenues.. :o)

Well Clive7878, if I had the answers to your questions, you can bet I wouldn't be wasting my time answering your questions.

If you'd asked before you bought at 135p though, I'd have said 'Don't do it. Wait for an inevitable drop, as always happens with most stocks approaching their tops, if not with markets touching mutli-year highs, as a whole'.

The share price appears to be drifting downwards - 135 to 117.
No good having a 10% yield if the share price drifts down 14% in a couple of months.
What are the chances of the share price recovering to 135?
I've lost more on share price downturn than I have gained in dividends,
if I was to sell now.

Greygeorge - ref your question in 3763

I'd agree with Cassini's answer, but there's a slight twist to add. Reserves is a reserved term (coincidentally!), but it effectively means "economically-producible resources". At a gas price of $5/MMbtu, DEC has far more reserves than if the gas price is $1.50/MMbtu, because its wells near the tail end can produce more, and for longer.

So, if a statement really was made that "DEC says it aims to extract 8-9% (I think) of known reserves per year", it implies a consistent price.

I think the phrase more likely to have been used was that overall across the portfolio, the annual production decline rate is 8.5%

2 months into the 5-month EU winter drawdown season and EU gas reserves remain high. Latest report I've seen is 83%. That's around 3050 bcf, compared to a Jan 1st average of about 2750. Forecasts are for mild weather into New Year.

Support gone and US gas prices headed for 18- month lows? This is remarkable given 20 states are on a weather warning for life threatening cold.

After the recent cold snap I've been told that gas storage in EU has dropped to concerning levels once more, I'd expect gas pricing to start getting in the news again come the new year.
