Not planning to follow him. Too late for that as I'm already heavily invested in this one sadly. Just impressed he'd actually made money here and hoping this will finally turn a corner. I don't actually follow any investors - perhaps I should start! :-)

James Carthew is a mouthpiece for the industry..he is not a good investor and definitely not one to follow!!

Like I say, I think James Carthew must've loaded up very recently in the teens, seems like a lot of people are calling the bottom on this one. Hopefully they're right....

Averaging down. Whilst still showing a loss overall. Cannot be described as making money!!

Making money with some good short term trades is quite possible. I bought around 9th Feb at under 15p, so that would be getting close to 50% profit currently

Just a shame that I still hold the much larger number bought at much higher prices :)

Thanks, interesting listen - sounds like James Carthew has bought in and is actually making money which is rather impressive with DGI9! Presumably must have invested fairly recently unlike most of us....

Evil Diaries: The Gabfest Continues

A few days ago, Victor Hill, my Master Investor colleague and arguably one of the best financial writers in the country, who majors on big caps as part of illustrating his macro thesis, mentioned a small cap, DGI9. I did not understand it since the argument for buying revolves around what view one takes of the insane discounting to net asset value that generally obtains in London. I put aside his comments.

However, a few days later, my contact, Barnaby, whose judgement I respect, comes on strong with exactly the same highlighted situation. DGI9 are now circa 18p to buy. But although there has clearly been some exposure going on here for some time I suspect that in due course there is rather more to come. Perhaps tuck into some.

Change of control is probably on the bank debt Shouldn't be a problem

Just over 2 weeks for the EGM to wind down the company..... Not long to go really and should hopefully start to build some momentum as we get closer to both events.....

Verne will complete in 3 weeks.....

As a result, all closing conditions related to the Verne Transaction have now been satisfied. Although, at this stage, the Change of Control Consent is still conditional, the Company is confident that all conditions which will need to be met have either already been satisfied or will be satisfied shortly before completion of the Verne Transaction. Closing of the Verne Transaction is now expected to take place before the end of Q1 2024. The Company will update the market in due course upon completion.

I bet we all understand it a lot better now than when we bought in mind ;)

Can't see Verne not going through.

What makes you say that? The one thing I'd say about DGI9 is that absolutely no one knows what's going on! :-)

But the bigger issue is that retail punters will be the last to know what's going on with Verne. I expect the DGI9 ship to be very leaky.

Verne completes this month = 30p +
Verne falls apart = 5p

Verne does not complete this month and starts to drag on = back below 20p

Oh, you don't want to listen to me on this one, I've been overly positive on it too many times, to my cost!

Promising sector, quality assets, horribly mismanaged. Though at least there are signs that the windup is actually being better managed, rather ironically

It's hard to see how it can fail to bounce when Verne completes (which now seems 90% certain), though there will likely be a wave of sellers into any significant bounce. But 30p certainly seems achievable, 40p might be a push

Mercifully never joined into this one. However, now seeing quality posters like Alan PT, RAM, Riverman & Wc104 endorsing at this level; I have decided to make a first small allocation entry @ c22.8p.

An initial short-term recovery to the 30p level looks achievable - 30% upside.

Yep the VLN is non recourse so no obligation to settle it with cash from other sources

Can't accrued interest on the VLN be settled from any future distribution by Arqiva itself rather than from the sale of other D9 assets? I'd have thought that prioritising distributions to shareholders from any future sales would be better aligned with the new objective of the fund if possible.

@skinny - I have no clue but I think as long as V completes people won't loose money buying here. The upside is very hard to work out but could be 2-3x (from here) if we are lucky. I suspect they'll come out with a NAV a bit higher, than yours, but the market will discount it quite a bit.
