19/12/2013 10:39 | Who supplies the paper for notes at present. They could be in for a rough ride. | redartbmud
19/12/2013 08:54 | On 13th. September 2013, The FT ran an insightful article written by Gill Plimmer about De La Rue and plastic notes. The FT article was headed "A switch to plastic notes fits the bill for De La Rue" Now that the Bank of England has confirmed after a public consultation that it will print plastic, this is potentially great news for DLAR. It should be noted that De La Rue are already printing plastic notes and is supplying notes already to Fiji and Mauritius and have the R&D and technical experience in place to produce plastic notes Here are some extracts from the FT article:- - Company has edge on competitors after entering the polymer market -The move could not have come at a better time for De La Rue -Its most likely competitors n the contract - the German Giesecke & Devrient and the French Oberthur- are yet to produce plastic notes giving De La Rue a technological lead. - Analysts estimate that the potential market for plastic currencies remains huge. Worth reading full article. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
19/12/2013 07:26 | Link to the important Bank of England press release yesterday about decision to go ahead with plastic notes:- ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
18/12/2013 21:31 | Bank of England has confirmed they will start using plastic/polymer notes from 2016. Where the Bank of England leads, other Central banks will surely follow. Whilst it appears that the contract for printing has yet to be decided, De la Rue may well be in a strong position in my view as current banknote printer to the realm. This is excellent news for De La Rue. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa

27/11/2013 12:50 | Just read in the FT that they attribute the bounce yesterday to short covering. At current share price looks like decent value but the overcapacity issue is going to be a drag on the business for quite some time probably limiting upside but equally the divi is good at this level and as such limits downside. | salpara111
27/11/2013 10:08 | Just bought some shares and they have been shown as a sell - cannot trust anything. | chatterbox
27/11/2013 10:03 | Some odd price action here in the last 2 days. I have to say I didn't feel the results deserved the huge rise but to give it all back the following morning is rather odd. | salpara111
27/11/2013 09:58 | Quite an amazing drop and a relatively bland broker note. I've bought some here at 7.5% down. | liam1om
27/11/2013 08:59 | yup!---sheep . | redips2

26/11/2013 08:25 | post 534 refers. C'est le ton qui fait la musique! Great to see the hefty dividend maintained and a strong set of results in the face of a some market competition. The improvement at De La Rue over 3 years is truly remarkable. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
26/11/2013 07:25 | Results, not that bad. | philo124
16/11/2013 12:54 | What is spooking the market is that there is now a structural overcapacity in the banknote printing industry. Look what happened in the solar industry when structural overcapacity arrived...the market was decimated and it has take over 5 years to see bankruptcies and still solar wafer prices are below production costs. I am not saying that things will play out that badly for DLAR but once there is excess capacity that isnt getting eaten up by strongly rising demand there is trouble ahead. I note that the divi is now quite attractive but it has not been increased for 3 years reflecting a lack of confidence going forward. I have put this on my monitor but am in no hurry to acquire. | salpara111
06/11/2013 16:59 | Yep, sick as a parrot. next time I am going to TELL my broker to sell at 1045p not politely ask him! Although the miss was c.£4m I think it's the fear that there will be more bad news to come. Whilst it maybe worth topping up here, there are less stressful stocks to buy. | philo124
06/11/2013 16:07 | Well Panmure were closer than any other broker. | darias
30/10/2013 08:49 | So do I. What is your considered view please? QP | quepassa |
