God ain’t really been much help with covid Stevie.
Notice those faith healers have been kinda quiet too.
They should have been rushing to hospital to save those affected.
Maybe they’re all busy?

Surely the airports can’t be like that just now or am l being naive?
My partner starts back at work tomorrow and she’s spent a fair amount of time both online and in airport receiving covid training.
Just watched Heapy being interviewed for Travel Weekly.
He also seemed content that things were in place for client safety.
My understanding was that saga and staysure were the first and at that time the only companies offering full covid insurance. You’re correct though the insurance has to be right
Haven’t tried to arrange any myself.
Think l’d still prefer the percentages in Tenerife compared to England.

Meanwhile the FAA has issued an emergency airworthiness directive warning that Boeing 737 engines that have been in storage could suddenly fail.

Have you ever seen passport control at Tenerife South on a busy arrivals day ?

I can assure you that it's like the third world war with everyman for himself.

The departure lounge at EMA isn't exactly "roomy" either.

So the whole experience of flying from departure lounge to arrivals hall is far too risky in my opinion.

As for SAGA travel insurance - can you point me to the place where they will cover C-19 related claims please.

Sad reading that Joe.
Couple of points l would make.
You would be on a plane with HEPA filters, that’s what they use in operating theatres.
If you think your insurance wouldn’t cover you then you need better insurance, seriously try Saga.
I’m gambling that you live in England?
Given a cold English Winter and possible increased spread due to temperature, l’d rather be in a warm Tenerife.
Not quite sure what the Canada comment has to do with Tenerife.

You're spot on there Tiger.

I'm an "older" person and spend two months each winter holidaying in Tenerife.

Always fly with J2 from EMA and stay at the same hotel in Costa Adeje. My holiday spend each year is around £12k depending on exchange rates and the flight / hotel prices.

However, this year I won't be going because as you say, I'm terrified.

I watched in dismay at the younger generation fighting over toilet rolls.

I've watched with horror at the younger generation refusing to self isolate, social distance and wear masks.

I ask myself:- do I want to sit on plane with those sort of people for 5 hours each way and the answer is a resounding NO.

If I were to fall poorly whilst in Tenerife my insurance won't cover me and the Canarian Government readily admit that the locals have priority in their hospitals.

Please feel free to use my thoughts in your modelling.

so we have no idea re winter period and bookings.

Let me tell you my findings.

Older people are terrified. The media has frightened them.

Bookings will be well done.

The loss of Portugal is a massive blow even with the reduced August capacity its 70 plus flights a week.

I am going to try and model some numbers.

The capacity cut for 2021 looks severe but prices could do better so a breakeven in Summer is possible.

Very uncertain times.

You miss the point. If it gets cancelled, worry about the reason why. Yes you get refunded, which means what for Dart? Hello?

International Cons Airlines Group

24 July 2020

Statement in relation to media speculation regarding equity raise

International Airlines Group (IAG) notes recent media speculation regarding the possibility of IAG undertaking an equity raise.

As detailed in its Q1 financial results announcement on 7 May, going into the crisis IAG had a strong balance sheet and liquidity with cash and undrawn facilities at 30 April of EUR10 billion. IAG has taken appropriate actions to strengthen its balance sheet and boost its liquidity position. This includes the announcement earlier today that IAG has extended its global commercial partnership with American Express and will receive a payment of approximately GBP750 million.

The Group is evaluating the merits of a rights issue of up to EUR2.75 billion that would further strengthen IAG's balance sheet. No decision has been made as to whether or when to proceed with a rights issue.

A further announcement will be made as appropriate.

Heavy continually contradicted himself, however he has warned and suggested more cap in hand........"I think 2021 has got to be a year of caution. And it's got to be a year of companies strengthening their balance sheets and strengthening their resilience," he said.
