29/10/2002 17:57 | phook, from a business point of view the summer quarter tends to be the worst, mainly due to the summer hols and all. Q3, (like now) tends to have businesses racing like mad getting propsals for new stuff/devlopment/imp Q4 tends to have the contracts being put in place to start in Q1.....do the work.... Q2....on hols... Most companies I know have really manic decembers....so much so that i know of some company's where offers to complete work just turn up....please charge us whatever it takes, just lets get this signed so that i can get budget and keep my ivory tower furnished. Can't see this yr bring any different, escp if directors are looking for th 9/12 month period from dec where all is good. i dunno...but I know one thing... 2.71 / 2.72 talk about markup tomorrow if this holds.... nice ;-) | ![]() blockbuy

29/10/2002 17:07 | So not all bad news then.. WASHINGTON (AFX) - The plunge in consumer confidence in October is not enough, by itself, to tip the balance and push the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates next week, analysts said. Friday's Oct unemployment report and ISM Oct manufacturing index are still the keys to whether Fed policy makers decide to pull the trigger next week, wait until December, or do nothing at all, analysts said. "Friday's data will tell the story," said Jim O'Sullivan, economist at UBS Warburg. "If, for some reason, ISM and employment are decent, then this number obviously becomes much less important," agreed Josh Shapiro, economist at Maria Fiorini Ramirez. The Conference Board said that its consumer confidence index plunged to a nine-year low of 79.4 in October. O'Sullivan said he thought the decline in confidence in October "painted too gloomy a picture." Shapiro noted in the early 1990s, confidence hit its cycle-low on year after the recovery started. "My view is that a similar thing is happening this time," Shapiro said. "But that and a metro-card gets you on the subway. All people are looking at is 79.4," he said. O'Sullivan said it was "perfectly rational" for the bond market to fully price in a Fed easing after the confidence data because the consumer confidence report contained hints of a poor October unemployment report. The Conference board reported that consumers anticipating more jobs to become available dropped to 15.0 pct in October from 17.3 pct in September, while those expecting fewer jobs in the coming months rose to 22.1 pct from 16.8 pct. | ![]() blockbuy

29/10/2002 15:49 | dsmith, based on EV/REV comparison to IKN, Danky should not exceed $2.90 at IKN $7.50. we could expect high 40's if Danka release the news on their contract with Exxon Mobile prior earning release on Thursday. From trading point of view, we have not seen lots of buy interest since yesterday so we wish buyers to come later on this evening. | oaklandsway
29/10/2002 15:45 | Hey Oaks, that 79% figure....it's gotta be a mistake...that's way too large a drop. If thoses stats boys have got the number right, then chances are the fed will cut rates next week. Watch for the bounce as traders come to this line of thinking. | ![]() blockbuy

29/10/2002 15:39 | Oaks, I trust your judgment, I've made some money by lurking and listening to you. (I've also learned not to ignore FF)!! LOL. High 40's for DNK would be good for me. Given your 9793, do you not think these will hit the high 40s in the short term? TIA | dsmith626
