09/7/2019 18:37 | 100Laila, if that is the case re the patent then my original analysis was correct; however others on here thought that Relay was taking on D4T4 so I backed down. | silverfern
09/7/2019 16:19 | after todays comments i just bought some of my original holding back. need a bigger pair | nimbo1
09/7/2019 14:25 | Classic case of shortage of stock as we have been told. So create a bit of fear which leads to P. I. selling and then the institutions move in. We were told the FD was leaving months ago so that's a complete red herring to blame that for share price fall. Remember we had market beating results very recently with a very bullish outlook. Great opportunity to buy. | amt
09/7/2019 14:22 | I recently met the company on their results roadshow. Some feedback on a couple of the points raised in recent posts:- The patent issue seems to be misunderstood by a few posters. Per the CEO the patent dispute is a non issue. It was in fact D4t4 that instigated legal action against Relay, as D4T4 proactively defends all its patents. He also pointed out that the patent in this particular case is of minor importance to D4T4. The FD is leaving on good terms and is taking a year out as a career break to mainly travel. Her intention to leave was RNS'd on 2 April so not a surprise. I would suggest these are not red flags .... | 100laila
09/7/2019 14:09 | I was going off the numbers in the March 2019 accounts and the last RNS. | trident5
09/7/2019 14:03 | I think there's a few more than that trident5, although I don't really see it as a big deal in the scheme of things. e.g. Peter Kear awarded 435,000 on the 21st March. To date i only see 110,000 sold. James Dodkins awarded 400,000 on the 21st March. To date 200,000 sold. Very annoying that they can be awarded such perks though. | dave2608
09/7/2019 13:51 | Dave ref patents i am not suggesting anything underhand - The original docs were raised here by someone else. (It is a fact they have not been mentioned by the board and therefore they must not be deemed significant - how that makes me feel as an investor only I can decide). My concerns have actually been very well addressed by NC and RP19 - so thanks for the views. | nimbo1
09/7/2019 13:49 | The only available options left not cashed in are 50,000 belonging to the departing FD. Nearly all the cashed in options were sold. | trident5
09/7/2019 13:25 | CFO leaving?? Jees are you serious about this being a red flag? People take career breaks / change jobs don't you know and CFOs aren't exactly indispensable. In fact they're pretty much two a penny. She still has a holding of 275,000 shares. Why would she hold so many if her leaving according to you is a red flag? Also why would she flog 58,139 options last August @ £1.74 each if she thought the share price was up with events? Patents? - It won't be an issue. If it was it would have been mentioned in communications already. If you were so concerned then why didn't you give them a ring? I've phoned them in the past and they've fielded my questions. Instead you come on here highlighting that patents have not been mentioned in results. Are you subtlety suggesting something underhand? 3 directors selling? This has already been covered. Two directors were cashing in options. Another director is in his 70s, but don't let the facts get in he way of a bit of mischief making. I notice how you haven't mentioned the directors who haven't cashed in their options. If the alarm bells were ringing wouldn't all the directors be getting in on the act? | dave2608
09/7/2019 13:06 | RP - I agree with each of your points exactly. The patent issue is not material otherwise they would have had to announce it. Companies with great IP like D4T4 have to expect to have that IP challenged by other companies wanting a piece of the action - it's part of life.As you have summarised - each is not ideal but nonetheless people are getting over excited in my opinion. | norbert colon
09/7/2019 12:50 | My view fwiw: - CFO leaving: This was flagged, there was the usual 'thanks for the contribution' message so am not buying the 'hasty' spin put on it by others. Said she had left for a career break. Maybe she has, maybe she hasn't. No one knows but her. - Option sales: Not ideal, would have liked more shares to have be retained. However, don't know their personal situations. - Patent: I don't understand the details. I'm assuming there would have been board comment if it was an issue. That said, it does highlight that it is a competitive space and D4T4 need to ensure that they remain at the forefront of it. I like the sector and the company a lot. However, I would have preferred none of the above three events to have happened but I can't determine the materiality of any of them. Can see why some would go 'risk off'. | rp19
09/7/2019 12:49 | very good points - thanks for that. | nimbo1
09/7/2019 12:46 | I don't see any red flags re: Director sales. Cast your mind back to July 2015 when Phil McDowell (brother of Roger McDowell NED) sold 1m shares at 50p - investors questioned that. Then Roger himself sold 1.55m shares at 189p in Sep 2018 and people threw their arms up only to see the business continue to prosper and the shares rerate accordingly.Director | norbert colon
09/7/2019 12:43 | Umm well the 3 red flags for me are as I said 1) CFO is off - investors don't like this 2) The patent thing discussed on this board - may or not be a red herring - i don't know, does anyone here? 3) Large director sales - again investors don't like this Any of these individually and i would gloss over them - taken together they make me nervous for the moment which is a shame as to me D4T4 looks like a long term winner at a good price and I hope I regain confidence to buy back in. I do wish other people on these forums would not attack people for raising concerns, its nothing personal...its about capital preservation... | nimbo1
09/7/2019 12:39 | OK then, lets have the discussion. Please explain the validity of your three red flags. | dave2608
09/7/2019 12:33 | Dave this is a discussion forum not a rose tinted glasses d4t4 appreciation society. If you can't have a discussion about the pro's and con's what's the point? Clearly some other holders feel the same way i do or the price wouldn't have gone down. | nimbo1
09/7/2019 12:16 | Indeed nimbo1 and your storm in a teacup. All these red flags you keep trying to panic people into believing. None of your blather holds up to any scrutiny whatsoever. | dave2608
09/7/2019 10:29 | The red flags raised are sensible ones - assessing risk is always a challenge. No one knows the future - we all like to see positive actions by directors (especially the finance director). In this case (with the application of Logic) these actions are not. ATB | 5oletrader
09/7/2019 10:09 | Im sure you are right on the accumulation front. Thanks Melody ref the directors holdings. possibly a storm in a tea cup... | nimbo1
09/7/2019 10:06 | ps At the moment this is a fan-club share bathed in lots of news. I prefer it when it is quiet, so will sit on the sidelines for a while. I might buy a small holding so that I remember the company still exists. apad | apad
09/7/2019 10:03 | Thanks Valhamos, I only saw a bald statement. That is more like it. nimbo1, FWIW, I think institutions will pick up shares in these circumstances because it is an opportunity to buy in large chunks. I've seen the pattern in a number of smaller companies. I think it might depend on the institutions time horizon. Short term weakness is no problem if you think the company will be cooking on gas in 5 years time and there is no other way to get a decent size holding. apad | apad
09/7/2019 09:58 | So looked at Director holdings. Interesting that Peter Kear, CEO holds 1.67M and did not sell any. Meanwhile John Lythall is aged 71 so reasonable he would want to cash in a few chips. Might as well enjoy the money whilst you can! Suspect the same can be said for the other 2 directors. So institutions happily bought in size at 259p which augurs well as we can buy at 245p now! | melody9999
09/7/2019 09:56 | .... at 259p. Looks like an ii wants in and is/was prepared to pay that price; presumably they did their homework and received some assurances? Then selling contagion set in! | tightfist
09/7/2019 09:55 | Deanowls yes they do - that's what i was thinking as i sold them. I want to believe in the company and am annoyed at the red flags - this is the most interesting company at the right price for potential gains I've seen in a while! | nimbo1
09/7/2019 09:54 | Hi APAD "I didn't like the abrupt notice of the FD leaving - no explanation or thanks." Some words of thanks and an explanation given here: Perhaps you think the gratitude expressed could have been more effusive? | valhamos |
