Everyone waiting with baited breath I think. Test of nerves time - the bid has held up despite some large-ish sells going through so it's still looking good, for now.

Strange bid price going up with over 30000 sold and around 2000 bought?

Boonkoh, thx for the heads up on the Publicis/LBi acquisition, interesting stuff - and WPP's recent digital acquisition too:

Publicis Groupe actually paid a multiple of about 10.5 times profits, whilst WPP paid a multiple of about 12.8 times ebitda for AKQA.

Given CRE's EBITDA last year of around £10.3m, that would imply a take-out price of say £120m, or around 200p per share. Not bad at all.

Well done gretel if you are holding both. If Havas are going to make a bid, will they wait and see what the interims are like?

Did you guys hear? Publicis is buying LBi, a digital only agency.

Purchase is around 400m euros. EBITDA of LBi is around 20-25m. That's an amazing ratio.

Wonder if Havas now will be spurred to buy Creston.

A 250k sell went through today. Price not affected too much so it might be another Ruffer offload/profit take.

well spotted
Red Door seem to have a very good name from what I can see.....(much better than the Insight division....which has had problems)

a signing from Pfizer ...looks like an experienced signing...
should clearly know the sector inside out...

(hopefully no one at Red Door is miffed at not getting the job.....and does it infer that the prior Int. Dir. has left ??)

CRE's Red Door have poached an extremely senior bod from Pfizer - sounds like excellent news:

"4th September 2012
SENIOR PFIZER COMMUNICATOR JOINS RED DOOR COMMUNICATIONS AS INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR

Andrew Thomas, the strategic communications lead for Pfizer's primary care medicines across Europe and Canada joins Red Door Communications on 18th September as Head of International.

Andrew has 12 years' experience delivering proactive communications and media relations programmes and managing reactive issues at domestic, pan-European and Global levels both within agency and in-house.

Prior to joining RDC, Andrew role at Pfizer was communications lead for a portfolio that included some of the company's highest profile medicines. He also led on the response to numerous major national and regional media issues and worked closely with European business unit leadership, in-country communicators and New York colleagues to ensure alignment on the company's media strategy and messages.

while many new shareholders from 60p range are very happy.....CRE needs to get to 150p or more just to show breakeven for long term Creston shareholders....and 200p to show a 5p/year profit

so still a long way to go.....

but DE and D.Marshall making money out of it every year along the way..
(imo the share awards to exec. dirs. should be old fashioned share options.....at a higher price to exercise...and only exercise minimum of 3 years in the future....and not for 0p and now as per DE share options)

..(and at least one D.Marshall son also connected to blood stream of major shareholder....and intentionally kept secret from shareholders....which surely breaks some rules ?.
(at D,Marshall controlled companies it is common that the share options awarded to directors are kept secret from shareholders....again, surely rule breaking)

long term shareholders still showing as the ones putting up the hard cash and being bled....fingers crossed that that will change...
-----

....but CRE shares are still underpriced imo..the P/E is still too low..and will continue to go up imo.
the EPS should increase this year as some one offs will hopefully not re-occur, eg. lay off costs....and USA profits should hopefully start arriving....
(PAT 7.5M . P/E of 10 would give a price of 120p/share.......but if any more lay off costs or -ve news then P/E will be lower)

(assuming that there are no more lay offs and the industry wide slow down has been taken in CRE stride and results will be supported by overseas turnover and health sector income .....justification?, see CLL results)

...whether or not Havas make a bid (if no Havas bid or the excitement about Havas goes away then the chart shape is much harder to predict..since short term 'punters' may leave....but I still see it going up)

A lot of AT sells going through this morning, all c. 5k-10k volume and driving the price down. Feels like an institution is profit nabbing. Or, well, the other possibility is far graver (but I'm sure isn't that!)

Have written to CRE and asked for comment on the article in the FT. As shareholders I feel a rumour the CEO is looking to retire and possibly sell the business that is printed in a major international financial paper is worthy of a response.
