Portfolio of shops up circa 20% in the year sales up 13%.

Think this may attract a few buyers this morning but remember we have had a far more suitable build up to Xmas period weather wise. That's a huge factor in high street retailing.
Last week 2015/2016 was very warm and very wet which was against the meat trade.

It certainly looks like the management have made some good steps to halt the decline.
However my view is the supermarkets are just starting to ramp up the cost cutting.
Asda by my calculations were blowing 5 million on Veg Xmas week alone and the meat sector could be next.
I remain negative and any move up should be viewed as an exit for my money.

What are the forecasts for the year by the way?

Well it's certainly better news, they would appear to have seen some change in momentum over the last period. I agree that the bad news is in the price at this level and I will continue to hold as we hope that the change in offering starts to drive sales.

Reads ok but it's a stinker of a sector to be involved in. The bad news is already in the price at this level.

Quite the contrary. On track to meat(!) expectations. I think it's a positive (as opposed to a very positive) ts. It can only give forward momentum.

Like for like sales down by 3.8% in December and margins a bit down too. Head meat buyer has got the chop too, ho ho ho, as a result. Could have been a better result I suppose but the update is not a disaster.

Trade was average at best Xmas in most sectors.
To be fair the fruit and veg lads took the biggest battering.

A bit more cheap stock floating about for them.

Suckers rally today in my opinion.

Difficult to read too much in that as some of those appear to have been advertised on their website for a considerable period; there might be more than one position re "Store Management | up to £28,000 | Merseyside & Greater Manchester" but that job advert has been on there for months.

early heads up I just saw this link: .. a news article today.. "Tony Jones, of Crawshaw Butchers, said: "It has been quite good actually, compared to what it would normally be in January for us." To be fair, he's talking about a daily "Made in Hull" show which has been drawing in crowds, so a bit store specific! :) but helpful maybe?

Trading update should be spectacular since there has been no votes to leave the EU or large sporting events since the last one! Expecting massive uplift unless of course the cold weather has stopped customers coming to the shops.
