So pleased that they have abandoned HS2. It doesn't matter how much money we throw at it, it was always going to be sh*t before it was even designed, just look at Indonesia's new 'Whoosh' train -217mph!. We can't even out-do a fr*ggin developing country!!!!

Just putting my dummy back in and coming out of self-enforced Costain chat board exile to say that I can not stand that ramping clown. He should be reported.

Whilst I’m here, if you haven’t done so already then I’d recommend you look at the recent investment pledges / business plans for the water companies. The numbers for the next cycle are massive. You can find them in the various RNSs.

"When companies issue SCRIP dividends, it means they are giving investors the option to receive additional shares instead of a cash dividend. SCRIP dividends are exempt from stamp duty and dealing charges and means the company can keep cash within the business."

Guys,

This scrip dividend, sounds really high. Is that really the same price as the shares almost? I’ve forgotten my glasses so could be a decimal point out :-)

HS2 was a POS from the outset. It doesn't even go that quick. Look at what they have in Japan and China and elsewhere. In fact, the London tube network is sh*t too, Germany has all-weather escalators from outdoor street level going underground. Why do we always end up with sh*t????

Instead of HS2, they should have made it easier and quicker for people to be able to contribute to the coastal economies by making a proper quick train service from London along the south coast all the way to Land's End.

The real problem with HS2 is the profligate way the money is spent. Anyone who has any knowledge of it knows that wages are inflated as HS2 will pay what they want. Men are stood around held until designs are ready. Vent shafts that no one is ever going to see with architectural concrete finishes. PPE is the best example-only 2 permitted suppliers and a unique boot mandated, which unsurprisingly are 120 quid a pair.
But of course that's great for our investment, if not our taxes!

Rise today due to comments made by ofwat that infrastructure investment for 2025-2030 needs to substantially increase?

Even so there would need to be provision for a vast improvement in northern transport which was really a major part of the original plan, or so we thought. Why then did they begin at the lower end. It speaks volumes about the Gov and their priorities. So much for levelling up. Sadly it was always so and it seems matters have not changed.

This is being dragged down in a most depressing way. There is simply no interest in it and hardly any trade at all. I would buy more but have enough.

This being down five percent on no news and when peers are all up after reporting strong results and confirming that the entire sector is heading in the right direction just makes no sense to me.

I am not posting a single thing in this thread again until we hit 100p.

Over and out!

More redundancies on LinkedIn as Costain moves to a, I quote, consultancy based approach. Think we should start seeing the benefits of that fixed cost base coming down as the fat is trimmed.

I think it's down to the uncertainty over completion of HS2.

The govn clearly need to save money.

Super annoying. But I concur with Casholaa and others. It will come. Obviously I want tomorrow today but I’m happy to wait this out if need be. I guess since everyone knows that 62p is the technical level, the weak hands sell out close to it. I had a bit of sulk yesterday but I’m at peace with it.

Probably helps that I’m running round Mont Blanc at the minute! Got no energy for anything else!

It feels like there's been some serious tree shaking going on. We've had about 4 or so days now where we've been down, but seen strong turnarounds at the end of the day. Anyone else see this?
