I made plenty of losses on non-producing miners in the past (African Eagle for one made a big hole in my pocket, and then I put enough for a small house in Afferro - one story of incompetence and one of fraud).
The fact I'm still risking it here doesn't really make me look clever, even if that experience stayed my hand when I might have been tempted to put more in.

In the period known colloquially by some as the ‘silver squeeze,’ the overwhelming driver to enter the PM market was to make money. This time it’s fundamentally different. The feedback from PM dealers is that the primary driver is fear – the detached mathematician might describe it as “we are entering a period of ‘non-linearity’.” Best of luck, all.

with gold at $2000 per oz which is $400 more than the $1600 assumed in the NPV base case, based on 2m ozs that adds $800m to the NPV

In that case Zangdook is one of the clever or lucky ones. I need early fifties for break even. GLA.

Still far too many unknowns to attempt any form of extrapolation, book5, but, if I recall it correctly, zangdook’s average, for example, in the low 30’s may well be achievable – I certainly hope so (but please keep in mind that those that filled their boots at 15p will be sitting on a 100%+ profit – expect some ‘fun and games,’ as per usual!)

Obviously a busy weekend:

UBS agreed to buy Credit Suisse for around $3.25bn in an all-share transaction. As part of the deal, Switzerland's central bank will make available a CHF100bn liquidity line to UBS.

Under the terms of the agreement, should UBS incur in more than CHF5bn in losses from Credit Suisse's assets, the Swiss government would shoulder the next CHF9bn in red ink, with UBS taking any losses above that amount.

All good now – get back to the day job – nothing of importance here.

Gold breaching $2000 will be seen by some as undermining all the weekend’s ‘good’ work – multiple ‘interestsR17; in play!

The rise continues currently Up 4.2% on volume of just 287000 from 17 trades. 25p full offer has been paid for the last 2 trades so another tick up looks likely. It will be a surprise if we don’t reach at least 30p this week getting back to where we were in October last year before this sale process was announced.

'it’s time to buy bonds now. You can buy them at less than half of their face value, wait a few years and make a 100% profit.'

what bonds can you name me some relatively safe bargains out there please?

Is your logic as ‘smart’ as you imply? Is a bond not an asset? If your presumption is correct and ‘we will see a sell-off in all assets,’ then why buy bonds now when you will be able to buy them even cheaper after ‘all assets sell off?’

In case we have a new financial crisis we will see a sell-off in all assets in the short term. I would not bet on gold in this scenario.
It’s a bit counter-intuitive, but it’s time to buy bonds now. You can buy them at less than half of their face value, wait a few years and make a 100% profit.
But I think this thread is not about smart investing :-))

Whist gold settling at £1634+ per troy ounce might be seen as a positive, the last few minutes of trading (patterns, vectors, etc) left me feeling somewhat uncomfortable – I can only imagine that the meetings’ diary of the various central banks is chock-a-block full for this weekend. Here’s hoping for a ‘normal’ Monday.

Gold is currently trading at 1989 so that 2000 level looks set to be breached next week. It’s a timely reminder that in times of financial crisis there is a flight to gold. This can only help in securing a good price for Condors assets which we all know will produce over £1 billion + over the life of the mine and it will only take 12 months for the buyer to recoup the cost of constructing the mine.

Zangdook there is a certain truth in what you write. If I were smart I should just have bought an S&P500 ETF 15 years ago.

The simple fact is that most junior exploratory miners do not fare well. Even an idiot taking the negative side as a general stance on such companies looks ‘clever,’; statistically speaking. CNR still has some skin in the game, so be thankful for that. Whatever the shortcomings, the gold price may be the final arbiter – as I type, gold is once again over £1600 per troy ounce. We have all been conditioned to expect the gold price to be ‘leant upon’ (and this may well happen), even though the rationale for such action is diminishing by the day. Have a good weekend, all.

Emphasis on „non-binding“.
But anyway the sale as such is not the problem, it’s what happens with the Cash afterwards

they cannot lie in an RNS

'The sales process is now entering the end of its first phase with various parties having conducted site visits and others ongoing. Three formal expressions of interest including 2 non-binding offers (subject to further due diligence) have been received by the Company and further offers are expected as nine companies are under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).'

Two offers have been received already.
