20/4/2004 10:31 | mad4it, i'd rather our indicators behaved in standard ways than not, so i'm interested in your views on the subject. while it might be difficult to track down a phone call from 18 months ago ;) feel free to send an email to support@advfn.com and mark it for my attention, they'll then forward it on to me. if our implementation is substantially different, i don't see a problem with using a "standard" RSI/MACD and keeping our current ones as differently named versions, or even vice versa. i'm mostly interested in implementing it according to the best referenced standard. 19/4/2004 23:19 | Hiya Mad! Are you well? Is this where you do your jiggery pokery? I'll have to come on here and learn from you? | abix47
19/4/2004 19:28 | ....and then there's the volume calculation! ....and then there's....;) | mad4it
19/4/2004 19:21 | lol! ...and I've just spent the last 18 months unlearning them! ;) | mad4it
19/4/2004 19:20 | dont say that MAd4it...just spent the last 18months learning these indicators LOL | hooya
19/4/2004 19:19 | Been reading the thread with interest. Thanks (again today) to Hooya for starting the ball rolling. Now, before it get's lost in time: Are you finally gonna sort out the dodgy RSI & MACD calculations ? I phoned up AFN about this 18 months ago, to point out they were incorrect and was informed..." Our calculations are correct. " I explained why they weren't and that all the other sites & chart software I used showed the corret data. I was told you'd look into it, so a few months later I phoned back to see what was happening and was informed " Our calculations are correct. " So guys, are you gonna finally sort this out for us ? No offence, but, it's about time you did. Unless, of course, you can explain why yours are different to every other RSI & MACD calculations I've seen ? | mad4it
19/4/2004 15:53 | Thanks for the update David... good luck to you and Jon. | bigjacko
19/4/2004 14:17 | "some big other things which need immediate addressing" what like a tick box or movable legend etc.... shame after a month you still dont know how important it is but hey ho Im not going into one. As we are delaying this for more important issues how about fixing the 60 min candle charts which dont load outside of trading hours :-) *that was reported before Christmas) | hooya
19/4/2004 13:56 | hi guys, it's still on the list, jon and i are working on it. it's part of something a bit bigger, i'm afraid, and there are some big other things which need immediate addressing, but it's definitely a high priority and we'll get it done asap. hope this helps, DavidW | fross
19/4/2004 11:55 | this thread was started on 25th of March over two weeks after the initial report of the fault. Its probably only been 2 weeks since he said he would fix it but still been way too long since it was first brought to ADVFN's attention imo | hooya
19/4/2004 11:49 | Has it really been that long? Wow. Felt like only a couple of weeks since David said it was on the to-do list. Wonder if he'd be kind enough to give us a progress-report/revi Cheers Well done for keeping on the case, Hooya - this DOES have to be sorted, one day... | bigjacko
19/4/2004 11:15 | quite amazing really over a month since and still no solution......lol | hooya
13/4/2004 09:28 | xetra - this happens a lot. Usually only in SETS or SETSmm stocks where there are auction periods after the 4:30pm close. Sometimes the auction's uncrossing price is higher than the intraday high, or lower than the intraday low. I've written myself a little program that grabs the ADVFN file, and then searches thru it, moving the highs and lows in cases where the close is outside bounds. I then feed this into my charting software. Purists would argue that this is wrong, because most folks can't deal in auctions, and thus could not get those prices. But I DO deal in auctions (I have GNI direct market access CFDs), so it works for me. Moreover, if we were to ignore the post-auction closing prices, what else would we use to determine the pre-auction closing prices? This information doesn't seem to be retained or available separately. | bigjacko

09/4/2004 15:40 | David, I thought you would have a separate site for the Greek stocks, that's why I asked that question, having a link on the front page. Anyway the problem is solved. One more question, how can I have a separate portofolio without mixing the Greek and the English together? Happy Easter.tnks | k38
08/4/2004 11:11 | k38, not sure what you mean by a link to all markets really. can you elaborate? as for "the greek site", we don't have a separate site, however we are carrying stocks from the athens stock exchange, they recently left beta status, so we've not pushed them much yet. you can get to them by just typing their symbols into quote, charts or monitor, or you can use the quote search page to find them too. we carry both the ASE stocks and the ASI indeces. hope that helps. Hooya, nothing's changed so i think that was just luck! i'm busy doing back-end development stuff but will get back to this when that's done. DavidW | fross
08/4/2004 08:02 | David, the candle started at the close price this morning?? Was that just by luck or was it your doing ??? either way it looks good | hooya
07/4/2004 22:54 | DavidW (ADVFN) why do you not have a link to all markets in the front page of advfn? Does anyone know about the new advfn greek site, if you do can you tell me and how to get into it because i also deal in greek shares. thank you | k38
07/4/2004 13:38 | actually, we already do already carry daily data and also two week intraday data for US stocks. go to quote page and click "download historical data". if you mean doing the EOD data for all the stocks as one big CSV file like we do for the UK market, not yet. it will happen, but not immediately! DavidW | fross
07/4/2004 09:02 | I don't believe they do, xetra. It's possible that Yahoo might (and that I won't be burned at the stake for mentioning them, because ADVFN don't do US EOD). Not sure exactly how reliable Yahoo's data is, but it may be better than nothing. IMHO, it would be a wise and useful addition to the ADVFN Data Download set (providing it was 'bagged' under a separate file for US stocks, not just bunged in there with the UK data). Fingers crossed - they are, after all, carrying live data, so logging it shouldn't be too difficult to do. Any plans, David? | bigjacko
06/4/2004 17:51 | I tried the other day and got nothing so I assume no?? | hooya
06/4/2004 17:47 | Off topic, but does anyone know if AFN provides EOD US data for download like it does for UK stocks? | xetra
06/4/2004 16:48 | not yet :) patience.. i'll post back when i do have something. | fross
06/4/2004 14:52 | how we getting on ??? | hooya |
