28/9/2020 15:12 | Mixed bag for Chesnara - IC VIEW Management has limited capacity to overcome weakened demand, although last year’s decision to move the group’s bond portfolio up the risk curve now looks smart, and shows that some headwinds can be navigated. Total returns have lagged the FTSE All-Share since our tip (386p, 26 Jul 2018), though the income case still looks robust. Buy. | speedsgh

28/9/2020 08:06 | I am hopeful acquisition opportunities are pretty likely in the current conditions. Page one of results has the simple statements on economic vlue: ECONOMIC VALUE (ECV) OF £604.2M ( 31 December 2019 : £670.0 M ) Note 2 Movement in the year is stated after dividend distributions of £20.8m and includes a foreign exchange gain of £29.1m. ECV EARNINGS NET OF TAX OF £(74.1)M ( six months ended 30 June 2019: £47.1 M ) The result includes £53.6m of economic losses resulting from investment market movements (six months ended 30 Jun 2019: investment market gain of £85.3m). Expect investment markets to recover in due course, but Solvency II ratio is up nicely, I see no underlying issue... | edmundshaw
28/9/2020 07:42 | 280-300 is pretty much the range it has been in over the past 4 months - still, as a dividend income stock with a yield at this level that's ok I suppose | mister md
28/9/2020 07:25 | Interim results: These look quite OK to me, but a ten-minute read doesn't do justice. • They used to make a big play about 'economic value' (earlier, 'embedded value') but don't even give the value per share, now: 402p. (Down a bit from a year ago.) • Dividend raised by 3% to 7.65p. They're a cautious lot, so that's reassuring. • Looking for 'acquisition opportunities' as the market settles down. Would be nice to see it back to the 280-300 trading range at least. | jonwig
16/9/2020 11:57 | I own both Have always thought that either CSN discount narrows and/or PHNX buys them | williamcooper104
16/9/2020 11:35 | Not sure what that dip was about, but I swapped some Phoenix into Chesnara while the former was up and this was down... I am hoping that was good arbitrage and not just me being ignorant about something out there... | edmundshaw
09/9/2020 17:53 | Chesnara plc, the life assurance group, will report its results for the half year ending 30 June 2020 on Monday, 28 September 2020. | johnroger
20/8/2020 13:38 | Any idea what's behind today's jump (not that I'm complaining) | williamcooper104
20/8/2020 13:11 | Indeed. The symmetry of the 1 year chart is intriguing. Some type of winged phoenix type creature. | farnesbarnes

22/6/2020 12:35 | So, are they not a good buy right now or is the new CEO tight as a tick? | eggbaconandbubble
22/6/2020 12:16 | There has only been one open-market purhase by a director/PDMR since the crisis hit the markets earlier in the year so they are not exactly telling us that it is a screaming buy. 29/4/20 Luke Savage (NED) bought 20,000 shares at 3.35935p = £67,187 Infrequent market purchases by the previous CEO, Graham Kettleborough, were always a good buy signal but the current CEO seems somewhat reluctant to use the money in his own pocket to buy the company's shares. | speedsgh
22/6/2020 09:33 | Strangely, share price has been falling since end April contrary to the rest of the market yet this commpany is more than resilient in these times. Looks a good buy again. | deadly
