Indeed, goes to show that just because something is pointing down doesn't mean it's heading down... if you know what I mean.

Thing is, russianlinesman (interesting name), I don't think Charter has particularly been bid up as a potential target. Even at 1050p (where I have to admit to selling mine), it wasn't especially highly rated. I do think you're right with your inkling about price though - seems to be on the way down to me. I'd certainly be happy to pick these up for £9 or so.

Cheers
Steve.

I sold most of my position at 10 quid because I think that what we will see in weeks to come is analysts looking at companies which have been bid up as potential targets, but which if the flood of private equity money slows down, will cease to be targets, and shorting them. Charter is evidently doing pretty well right now, but I just have an inkling that the market is going to keep this below a tenner for quite a while now.

Might be wrong, but where's the fun in always being right. Charter is for me another company where the share price doesn't react accurately to performance, so even with great prospects the share price will fall.

Nice end to the day. Buy-if signal from British Bulls. Looks like the next leg up to me.

Didn't get in quite that early, you have done well. Thanks for the target reminder. Good luck. Banjo

OW? You're nearly right... it's an upside down retrace! Up and up again today. IN since £4.30, everytime I think about selling, it goes up. DKW say 1175 is feasible (see post 1830)

All the same, I think this could be due for a retrace.

A lot of patience was required and not a little faith round results time.I confess my holding is a fair bit smaller than when it stormed to 9 quid without interruption in the recovery days up to May 2006.

Don't know about anyone else, but I regard the last 4 months or so as the aberration rather than the recent price rise. After all, it's only just broken out of the adjusted trading range it's been in since early 2006. Still a core long term hold for me although was not without my worries at times in Feb/March !
