‘Not according to most longs’

Once you bought in it seems natural to look for the positives. Oil price increase?, minnows going under , slowdown of exiting customers. Their last years presentation by the board of results was very smooth and I have to say I was impressed.

I value alternative views (providing its done without malice),

Have you seen Aston Martin share price , only just floated in October? At £19 and now trading £6.30 . You would have thought the professionals must have gone through the accounts and come up with a fair valuations.

Cutting the div will help but their business model is a pile of pants, their debt is horrendous, management are clueless by the looks of things and the cut will just delay the inevitable IMO.Right to be negative! - not according to most longs on here who are suffering completely by confirmation bias (always a good shorting signal lol).

Evening whatsup, yes cut the dividend for a couple of years and after the initial drop it will eventually start to go back up again

Yes Nortic , if you are not hold a position here and you are thinking of buying in I can understand you want this to go to 60p or so. But if you are in heavy in a company and keep seeing it drop and drop it pretty depressing. Just think of the investors who bought 2 pound + how they are thinking, but unfortunately it's dog eat dog and most don't give a toss. I have never been a big fan of stop loss but I put one on now all the time when I buy anything. Once I've sold I won't buy into that company again for a long time

Disco you were right to be negative. Unfortunately there may be more bad news on its way. 30th should be the day of re CON ing. Hopefully he doesn’t try to kick the can down the road yet again .

If he does declare all the bad news and slash dividends to a few pence , then after an initial big drop there may be a long term buying opportunity.

But then what do I know , I’m sitting on three losers .

.......then there's a couple of regulatory elephants in the room, possible (likely IMO) smart meter fine and not forgetting that £168m prepayment over charge, mmmmm.

You never know, perhaps Conn will be looking to sell off UK Home energy (good luck with that!), have a buyer already lined up for nuclear (ditto, good luck with that one!), minimise Capex costs by farming out part of the Spirit 69% and focus on connected home..........ooops hang on a minute, it's Conn isn't it, so forget that strategy / plan. Let's go for keeping all parts of the business that are going down the pan instead, yep business as usual.

Yes it's not nice to see people losing money but it happens and we just have to get on with things.

I agree Nortic, I would stop the dividend for at least a couple of years ( it would mean a loss of a nice amount) but if that what it takes to turn around this company and make the share price go northwards so be it. I think about everybody must be down here

Nortic.. ‘ having to sell things it shouldn’t and rubbish it should’

reminds me of PanAm . Sold hotels plus other profitable businesses and kept the loss making airline. Where are they now ?

Tui, Aston Martin, Aviva , metro , Thomas Cook, Flybe, should I go on

There's a bunch of investors in a plethora of companies in the same boat but this one is particularly disappointing. This company as well as others are now in that range where demotion is a real possibility. The next quarterly review is only round the corner and clever investors will know the form but unfortunately there's know one out there to stop it. I do find the previous 2 days trades rather peculiar as a base was being formed on good turnover and today nothing and then down 3%.CNA is stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's having to sell things it shouldn't and keep rubbish it shouldn't.I'd cut the dividend completely and try and reintroduce in 3 years time.

Still say it's one of three poorest performing shares I have held in the last ten years, just wish I never bought so many of them in hindsight now. I still have one tranche at 50k shares at 187p !!

At this rate Nortic it won't be long. Try to be positive, but it's a job with this one, and just to see your total value of your shares going down the plug hole. I looked back at the last 10 years in buying CNA and what profit I made on them over that time. If you add them all up and the profits I made from the dividends I have received I'm just a touch down in total, but their must be loads of investors out there who are losing a fortune if they sold

This just gets worse, I did a quick calculation about what it said in the news about it maybe going into the FT250. I worked out it would have to drop to about 69.1p !! to be equal to Marks & Spencer which is 101 in the top 100
