14/5/2019 22:20 | If tax payers and customers were going to be better off with superior service, reliable energy at prices substantially lower then now I might be tempted to say it’s a good idea. Fact is the margins are around 2% and I don’t see a nationalised company reducing costs or prices. Bad idea | whatsup32
14/5/2019 22:13 | If Corbyn gets in nobody will be long in anything........make | discodave4

14/5/2019 21:45 | Looks like Labour haven’t given up on nationalisation plans for energy. Wants parliament to decide how much to pay. Words fail me. Would that not be daylight robbery | whatsup32

14/5/2019 16:19 | Port side, don,'t disagree with your thinking, but it like anything, where do you pitch it in terms usage, as it could result the ones in poverty an struggling to pay their bills being worse off, especially old people living on just the state pension? Or are you more referring to the usage in big companies etc rather than the household? | kulvinder
14/5/2019 16:01 | just think about this statement , climate change if climate change is down to the use of gas elec why are these idiots shouting about cost of gas elec and want it lower so the public burn and use even more why is it the more you use the cheaper it becomes these clowns have not got a clue , it should be the more you use the dearer it becomes that is the way to save the planet but not one of these climate thick idiots and the brains of a dead fly , make it gov policy the more you use the cost goes higher that will reduce the use not bringing it down | portside1
14/5/2019 15:46 | It's become the norm these days to slag of utilities companies( especially CNA)to the point it's become boring but isn't strange that the majority of us on here and on this planet earth poses an iPhone where the profits margins are 50 % and above and we hear nothing. Apple sells us a dream but no one complains but utilities margins are so tight (1 or 2 % say) that it's not worth even nationalising now that MP's who have no idea about business stick their noses to make themselves look good.Just observing like. | nortic 007
14/5/2019 14:28 | DD, I think your short is reasonably safe for now. I think we may have bottomed out on Friday but I'm not sure if we will see too much recovery. I doubt we will see £1 just yet. But you must be close to taking your profits. Don't lose them by holding too long mind. Well done, any profit is good. | redtom1
14/5/2019 13:00 | Does look like its defensive attributes still hold, don't know why tbh but hey.Doubt this will break and hold above £1 but if it does will close - yippee! | discodave4
14/5/2019 11:33 | A halving of the dividend from 12p to 6p would give CNA addition cash resource of £340m per year. This could be used to reduce debt which which the markets would welcome and a 6p dividend would be covered by earnings (again market would be happy for dividend to be covered whereas it currently is not) and the yield would still be 5-6% assuming share price in the 100p to 120p range. Again, market would be happy for this decent yield. All in all a dividend cut should (in this case which is unusual) be seen as a positive move. | redtom1 |
