jordaggy, diku

re ii not being expensive.

The point is, iweb / x-o let you trade for £5 from the offset, and bill your bank account £0.

ii will bill you £10 even when u dont trade, and charge you £8...

I entered the markets to make money, not to give it to these overpriced brokers.

I have peace of mind knowing that in the event I call my stock picks wrong and have to wait it out for 9 months with no trading, I wont have paid £90 in fees to ii...

Just look at the 3 year chart. Anyone buying is buying in hope. Imo wait for new news here before buying in. Or catching falling knife. Which I have done in the past to my pain

carlsagan1...ii are not charging for exiting...I believe HL does charge exit fees and per holding transfer...so if you were to change broker again bear in mind exit fees from that broker...I think ii are good in fee terms if you were to trade at least once a month...pay £9.99 a month fee but at the same time they give you back £7.99 in credit...you use this credit to trade...credit last for 90 days...then it expires if not used up...

jordaggy, thats right, they transfer both cash and shares, or you can specify if you just want your cash transferred or just the shares.

its pretty straight forward, you just conact your new broker, and they do all the work in contacting your old one... Just make sure you fill out the account transfer form, otherwise you lose a week or two because they have to send it back in the post for you to ammend it(cannot be done on phone as has to be signed in ink).

hope that helped!

for the most all new companies need to raise money to proceed hence an IPO,would have thought gearing was more applicable to established companies.

debt is good if used properly, without it you would have no economy, how would company's prosper without borrowing to grow the company, similar how would you ever afford to purchase your house without borrowing?
