they have £1.3bn cash and a disposal since balance date and £4.2bn renewed credit facilities. so cannot see any imminent cash crunch. suggest you read again that ratings report a few days back.

£650m annual dividend shouldnt be too challenging for a £30bn revenue company if they keep trimming costs and stabilise British Gas .

Hi logicianNo offence but it's not "fear" it's fact, this share has been falling since 2013 and no sign of abating IMO.Yep but more debt finance hits P&L and cash generation is declining, less than 12 months left on the books based on current cash burn - hence the divestments and efficiencies. Personally with such issues it's madness to maintain such a dividend (£650m ffs), it has to be cut if common sense prevails IMO......and a rights issue could be required if things get worse. All IMO and appreciate I see it differently to yourself, it's not personal (unlike a certain poster on here), takes two opposing views to make a market.

you always get this fear nonsense when a share price is completely bombed out. 10% dividend yield, much more attractive than buying 4% yielders. imo there is little chance of rights issue as the company has just renewed credit facilities. imo dividend should be maintained unless another profits warning. but imo, DYOR.

The Rupert Hargreaves article (8th March) is a truer picture IMO of what this year will be like for Centrica."Cash Crunch - As well as reduced earnings from the energy price cap, Centrica's management is also warning investors that lower production at its Spirit Energy division, outages in the nuclear business and the timing of cash payments, will weigh on earnings and cash flow in 2019. After factoring in these issues, management is forecasting adjusted operating cash flow for the year in the range of £1.8bn-£2bn, below the targeted range of £2.1bn-£2.3bn.""Dividend Cut - I think income investors should stay away from Centrica. The company's dividend yield of 9.1% might look attractive at first glance, but, as one group of analysts described it, this distribution is "hanging by a thread." If earnings continue to deteriorate, management could be forced to slash the distribution, and there's even been some speculation the company might have to do a rights issue if things get really bad.All in all, I am avoiding the Centrica share price, and I think you should as well. Put simply, there are better income buys out there." HTTPS://www.fool.co.uk/investing/2019/03/08/the-centrica-share-price-has-slumped-10-this-year-heres-what-id-do-now/

Fairly balanced article IMO, but although the writer states that "Centrica is a long, long shot but if you're patient it might just pay off".......I don't agree (sorry). At least the facts are correct concerning dividend cover (or lack of it) and it mentions rumours of a rights issue, which is not surprising IMO given their diminishing cash. Is Conn a con artist?, me thinks so.He talks about heat pumps but both ground and air source heat pumps are very expensive to install and take at least 25 to 30 years to achieve payback......besides is he saying BG will gain more income by going into this area rather than gas CH, think he's just trying to con the government.HTTP://www.cityam.com/274898/uk-must-decarbonise-heating-but-not-through-hydrogen

will they get £1.7bn from selling the nuclear stake?

The eight nuclear power stations, which used to be grouped under British Energy, generate 8.9 gigawatts of electricity and supply about 20% of Britain’s electricity needs. They were bought by EDF for £12.5bn in 2008. The following year, Centrica took a 20% stake, which it values at £1.7bn.

A positive take, but not factually correct.....dividend is not covered (eps ADJUSTED 11.2p, div 12p, statutory basic eps only 3.3p), doesn't mention cash burn or reduced cash flow or increased net debt.....value trap IMO.
