06/9/2018 23:27 | Centrica (CNA.L), meanwhile, posted the best performance with a 5 percent gain. The energy supplier's jump in value came as Britain's regulator proposed a price cap on default energy bills to save households about a billion pounds ($1.3 billion) a year. It aims to implement the cap in time for winter as the government seeks to deliver on a promise to tackle "rip-off" prices."A price cap that will limit the amount Centrica's British Gas operation can charge customers hardly seems like cause for celebration, but the key point is that it will address the uncertainty that has dogged the stock in the last couple of years", said Russ Mould, an investment director at AJ Bell."There's nothing the market hates more than a lack of clarity, and now the level of the price cap is known analysts can reflect it in their earnings estimates." | losses

06/9/2018 19:35 | Just to bring a little perspective into the discussion. We can but hope that there are better days ahead "A price cap which will limit the amount Centrica's British Gas operation can charge customers hardly seems like cause for celebration, but the key point is that it will address the uncertainty which has dogged the stock in the last couple of years," commented Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell | selborne_edge

06/9/2018 13:08 | This move by regulators is the stupidest thing to come by. I believe this is more stupid than calling for referendum on Scottish Independence or leaving EU.I must admit I am shareholder of Centrica, and like many I am a beneficiary of price movement today, but politicians bringing this to market is not fair to consumers. I give it 24 months before the price cap is pierced. | n73
06/9/2018 12:59 | Mercer95 . A mile away from speedway. Grab your Mrs and come on down . Daytona Beach is heaven , restaurants are empty, streets deserted and the few people on the streets are well into their 90’s so easy to push out of the way. I’m all in TUI at the moment. Just waking up everyday to see how much it’s dropped. What fun on holiday | whatsup32

06/9/2018 10:58 | A sensible price cap, just what we have been waiting for. The regulator is more important than government ministers. From Theresa May down various ministers have killed sentiment here. That should be over now and I doubt if Corbyn's Nationalisation threats will ever amount to anything. He has as much trouble in his party as May has, and he is not getting any younger. Maybe we can recover over the next few months. Conn's strategy could be the right one. A £28bn turnover company valued at a bit over £8bn gives upside potential. | careful
06/9/2018 08:52 | Nothing is ever certain in the market IMO you could just sell mitchy & invest somewhere else. | mercer95
