24/2/2021 08:02 | Centrica plcResilient financial performance in the second half of 2020Centrica's operational and financial performance was resilient in the second half of 2020, as we maintained a tight focus on cash generation and expenditure against the backdrop of Covid-19. The significant restructure announced in June remains on track, and trading and optimisation performance continued to be strong, in particular in our LNG business. At the end of 2020 we had 6.9m UK energy supply customers and 3.6m UK services customers, both broadly unchanged since the half year.Covid-19 continued to impact financial performance, although as expected the gross impact was lower in H2 2020 than in H1 2020. UK business electricity demand was negatively impacted by around 15% in H2 2020 compared to around 30% in Q2 2020. Residential boiler installations recovered in the second half compared to the first half but were still around 15% lower than in H2 2019. Cash collection trends across the Group were broadly in line with previous years. However, we remain cautious as we head into 2021, with the return of tighter Covid-19 restrictions in the UK and Ireland expected to put continued pressure on business energy demand and limit services workload. In addition, the related uncertain economic backdrop increases the potential for additional working capital outflow and higher bad debts. We currently expect to report 2020 full year adjusted earnings per share from continuing and discontinued operations(1) ahead of current market consensus(2) . 2020 closing Group net debt is expected to be approximately GBP2.8bn, a reduction of over 10% in the year. This is before including net proceeds of GBP2.7bn from the sale of Direct Energy (which closed on 5 January 2021), the bulk of which will be used to reduce net debt and make a contribution to the Group's defined benefit pension schemes. The Company is due to release its 2020 | ammu12

23/2/2021 22:50 | I just love the way the not so CLEVERINVESTER made a complete mug of himself publicly on the SAGA chat. Sorry to say that you guys have him now. He was predicting SAGA would be £2.20 and then £1.80 for the last 2 weeks and told everyone to sell sell sell. Today was the ultimate humiliation when all his allies disappeared while we all count our massive profits of between £1.40 and £2.20 per share. It was sensational. We all LOVED the ultimate HUMILIATION he tasted. Now he needs to go to mummy and sing his Celine Dion song. These are some of the lyrics he's had to sing all day................. 'When I dial the telephone, Nobody's home, All by myself, Don't wanna be, All by myself, Anymore' | antonagis

23/2/2021 21:15 | Sporazene, thanks for the info and yes that's sounds about right. The engineers have always downloaded their work etc prior to setting off and that hasn't been an issue. The new issue, as you also point out, is the extra half an hour every day, on top of the 3 hours a week extra for no extra pay, that the company are trying to force on it's engineering work force, or be fired with not even statutory redundancy. British Gas also want to change at it's sole discretion, what hours you work from. One week they may say 7am to 3pm, the next week they may say it's 1pm to 9pm. Most of the public would view British Gas as trying to go back to being like a rouge Victorian mining company. | temujiin
23/2/2021 20:42 | Temujiin - the job scheduling, routing planning is all automated today. I know because I have sold and implemented software until about 2 months ago, that does this for many of the utilities in the UK and Europe. Additionally, the communication to end customers is done using uber-like apps or emails (that are linked to the engineers kit) which give progress updates. Any person to person communication to the Customers is done via the dispatcher in a call centre that manages group of engineers, unless it's the last mile of the journey. In my experience its pretty normal for engineers to fire up their machine and download their first job before they get in their van, or how else would they know where they are going. Additionally, live traffic feeds will adjust their journey, but generally the scheduling algo's will give them jobs closest to their home with the least traffic. Having said that, I don't know any other company providing a similar type of service that stipulates an engineer drives to their first job in their own time. I think from an employment law perspective only if you go to the same office every day this is done in your own time. | sporazene2
23/2/2021 20:00 | FWIW, CNA are briefing out their absolutely final, final offer tomorrow, and engineers will be voting on it next week. This weekends strike will go ahead. I heard another change BG planned for it's engineers is to start work 30minutes before their shift starts! At present getting in their British Gas van and driving to a BG customer is counted as work. O'Shea now want engineers not only to log on and download work, call the customer and plan the journey in their own time, he also wants them to drive to customers in their own time as well. Oh and while he want's the pleb engineers to work an extra 3 free hours to make it a 40 hour week, managers are not expected to work more than current 37 hours. I've not heard anything about the new final offer in case anyone asks. | temujiin
