27/1/2011 09:32 | Why I like copper, in regards the first sentence...ingrain this in the very core of your investing brain! :); "It now appears that in the next 25 years, the world will need to produce as much copper as has been produced in the history of humanity". "India also provides a very compelling case for copper demand and one only has to look as far as their power needs. According to the International Energy Agency, India's power production needs to rise by 15-20% annually and to meet that, India needs to invest $1.25 trillion by 2030 into energy infrastructure. From this new infrastructure, India's annual copper demand is expected to more than double". "The annual per capita consumption of copper in India is 0.47 kg, which compares poorly with China's 5.4 kg and the world average of 2.7 kg". | jonny flame
27/1/2011 07:14 | larney - this is not in my heading? The mar cap is the amount of shares x the current sp, to work this out see the below details in regards shareholdings. CAML has 86,165,934 Ordinary Shares of USD0.01 in issue and no shares held in treasury. | jonny flame
26/1/2011 18:15 | MKT CAP is wrong in the heading under fundamental data, should be about £87m | larney
26/1/2011 17:49 | Hi,this is my first post ever on a BB. I was just researching Resource stocks generally and had a peek at this, although do not hold any shares in CAML yet. I'm only avery small time (money wise) investor but I have a spread of about 100 stocks. I was only prompted to do this first post because of the interest in Mongolia. I made a significant profit out of MATD and I note someone mentioned OPP which I also hold. Have also been watching PCY but tend to try and stick to London quoted shares. Another one to watch is Leyshon (LRL) which is trying for a number of licences in the country and has excellent contacts in China-see its recently appointed Advisory Board! LRL has recently got its AIM quote back. I think I shall have a little go with CAML although I am usually a "penny stock" man. Thanks for all the info. | howesp
24/1/2011 12:23 | Nice. And rising under the radar of most investors :) | jonny flame
24/1/2011 06:04 | Hi cmpf - if Steve vouch's for you then that's OK with me. Looking forward to communicating with you off line. Steve says write to him and tell him that you are cmpf as he does not have your name in his addy book. Regards, JF | jonny flame
23/1/2011 22:10 | Hi attrader. For a SIPP been looking at opening one with TDW. Charge about £80 to set up and then pretty minimal charges if you are trading. Not sure I've found a better one yet. | cmpf
23/1/2011 22:09 | Cool JF, I'll call Barclays, TD etc tomorrow to find out more about SIPPs. Will put up an update soon. | attrader
23/1/2011 22:09 | JF - hi been following you, Fairdeal and CyprusSteve for a couple of years and have benefitted from your thoughts on at least half a dozen. I've got a couple of Canadian ones. Do you mind if I get your e-mail address from Steve? | cmpf
22/1/2011 20:36 | Hi attrader - I actually know very little about SIPP's, so I'm probably the wrong person to ask! However I would be interested to know the answers to your questions! Sorry I can't be of more help this time. Regards, JF | jonny flame
22/1/2011 15:55 | It is looking very interesting. I am going to buy these in a SIPP account, however , have not got one yet. JF. who is a good SIPP provider ? i have ISA with Barclays and am happy with their service, not sure if they are good in SIPP as well. ( admin charges of £50 each quarter seems a bit expensive) . Also, is CAML ( along with AIM listed shares) eligible for SIPP ? | attrader
21/1/2011 18:05 | Yeah it looks like it is a very recent presentation, 17th Jan 2011, according to the company website. P.S. chrisis33 hope all is well, I note you are ahead of me in Chips share comp (: | jonny flame
21/1/2011 17:07 | thanks for the above, jf - i hadn't seen the presentation. i buy through a broker, expensive i know, but i get good advice and on the whole i feel it pays. i tend to buy in reasonable chunks anyway and having to make a phone call to make a deal, rather than press a key, and talk it through, means i am more likely to hold, and benefit from holding, as i am happy to do here. for better or worse i now have seven kaz and/or mongolia stocks, a big proportion of my portfolio... | arej
21/1/2011 17:01 | Thanks for highlighting this jf - I'll take a look tonight | chrisis33
21/1/2011 16:33 | Great to see this continuing to tick up, with very little fanfare. o/t - arej, sounds interesting but a bit too risky for me. Also it would cost me way to much to buy shares on the tsx, and as I'm a bit of a scrooge this puts me off :) I hate spending money....:) | jonny flame
20/1/2011 19:47 | jf et al: o/t as far as caml is concerned, but on the subject of mongolia, kri might be worth a look - for my sake at least, as i have no one else to talk about it with. it's a canadian listed company with a uranium license that's been disallowed by the mongolian govt, which is why the share price has fallen so much. a week or two ago it announced it was taking the mongolian govt to international arbritration/court and the share price has been climbing since. it's a gamble: if kri can get back its license or get proper compensation or get bought by the russians/mongolians/ | arej
19/1/2011 13:30 | Thanks veldt. In regards, Also I can't quite believe the statement in the piece that says, " Mongolian GDP is expected to triple to $23bn by 2013 on the back of demand for its mineral resources." Can this really be true in such a short time frame? Take a look at this; | jonny flame
13/1/2011 13:37 | Bit of buying today. | jonny flame
05/1/2011 12:02 | So I suppose, given the licenses being revoked, the advanced stages of this asset sale are on hold? *Ereen, for which a licence was obtained in May 2007, is an advanced stage gold exploration project located in Northern Mongolia with a potential 1 Moz gold resource. CAML is in discussions with a third party regarding a sale of this asset; and No news on this either: * Tochtar, a gold mine in Kazakhstan for which a licence was obtained in April 2006. CAML's intention is to dispose of the asset by the end of the year and the asset is currently subject to due diligence. | dawsonpaul |
