19/8/2020 07:23 | Seems like advfn are running through yesterday’s action on the monitor page Get your sell and buy orders in quick it’s like printing money. 😂😂 | larry laffer
18/8/2020 20:53 | Fed releasing the minutes of their July meeting tomorrow so that could be negative for the dollar, and positive for gold. | redbaron10
18/8/2020 20:02 | Thanks guys- and yes annoying timing, will have a look around, but doubt if I'll find anything. Good to see gold holding and still increasing with indices, tomorrow should be good, fingers crossed | stevedaytrader
18/8/2020 19:07 | yes, seemed to overreact when gold price fell on a little profit taking but now thankfully at 2004 level . | arja
18/8/2020 18:18 | Steve... who knows ... seen this happen a few time’s lately and it’s usually just before the LSE is due to close . Nonsense IMO . Straight back up over $2000 which if it stabilises points to higher share price here . | kennyp52
18/8/2020 16:04 | No time today to look- but what caused the big drop (relatively speaking), and thankful reasonable settling of gold priced about an hour ago? | stevedaytrader
18/8/2020 15:55 | interesting observation arkouda . The chaart showed support at 208 level which became self fulfilling as gold price started to recover at that point . | arja
18/8/2020 15:42 | There was a buy of 3 million-odd this morning before 11 a.m. The few times I’ve seen a large buy or sell during the day the end-of-day auction tends to balance things to a degree. | arkouda
18/8/2020 15:25 | really tumbled as gold came off a bit and still slipping . Quite a surprise in a way but profit takers stepped in and I think the party is not yet over ! | arja
18/8/2020 13:17 | ive also sharpened up my cey trading tools, namely, i trade off the dollar index, gold spot price and us 10y treasury yield all very important indicators | martinfrench
18/8/2020 13:12 | oh yes, very happy with slp, easier in some ways than cey because i tend to just leave it in, which is fine by me, cant really day trade it, though do slice and add now and again. compared to cey, where i tend to always have an interest but top up and slice very regularly. i see on the slp board you were think but didnt at 50p. cant see it ever going near that again, and we have crunch time in around 2 1/2 weeks. | martinfrench
18/8/2020 11:38 | You must be quite happy this week, thus far then Martin... A cool 20% up from around thursday, you must be | plat hunter
18/8/2020 11:24 | already in slp as we all know plat. will buy jlp on any sort of dip | martinfrench
18/8/2020 11:09 | CEY now edging up and wonder if it will close gap and get to about 217 ! | arja
18/8/2020 11:08 | martinfrench , thanks for highlighting the platinum ETF and I just checked out the chart and it is in a short term uptrend . Does it matter that it is quoted in dollars as with a CFD I would just make a profit or loss which is then converted to my base currency of $A and might be to sterling in your case ? Marginal difference to profit if pound stronger but still a profit I guess . Thanks again and I have noted the epic code and must follow platinum again , | arja
18/8/2020 10:15 | Martin, consider UK producers. They produce a basket of platinum group metals, which spreads your risk from one metal to another, the earnings are leveraged and reported in sterling. SLP and JLP are very good UK Platinum groups producers with lost cost profiles and both kicking off cash. | plat hunter
18/8/2020 10:12 | I have a small holding retained from when I was in at 120's and subsequently sold down in the 170's, and 150's at the previous pull back. | plat hunter
18/8/2020 10:11 | am thinking of buying phpt, us platinum etf priced in dollars however is a bit worrying lol platinum historically a quarter of the long term relationship, now, not saying it should revert to the long run but surely must pull level at some point ..... | martinfrench
18/8/2020 10:10 | Unfortunately not Kenny.. I was in fact just surmising my continued failures here. I wobbled and took a small loss, slightly offset by the Divi. I think I've had 3 successful trades here out of around a dozen over the last 3-4 years. My track record doesn't bestow confidence when it's going the wrong way for me and I usually always sell way to early. | plat hunter
18/8/2020 09:53 | redbarron, I was a but puzzled by your reference to EFTs as they just monitor the movement in an index, commodity etc and could be held for s while as an investment , eg GBSP when gold remains in uptrend . I do this occasionally using a CFD but there are financing charges unfortunately . safer than holding a stock such as CEY , HOC etc as one never knows if a bad news announcement is around the corner. good luck . | arja
18/8/2020 09:43 | You get back in here Plat ? | kennyp52
18/8/2020 09:41 | Rhodium and palladium doing ok with Platinum also showing signs of life . If you like those metals then JLP is worth a look . Strong recovery from its low but potential future profits are extremely interesting . | kennyp52
18/8/2020 09:38 | When I was a young un.. a mere 18 years young pup, I ran away from home and joined the Army. There was a strong contingency from the North east and my experience was that geordies generally had a sense of humour and had nurturing personalities. The mackems, were generally obnoxious, self deluded no sense of humour at all and generally not nice people to be around. | plat hunter |
