Boris dude. No I started buying in Clerkenwell in the late nineties. Then Islington and Hackney in the early 2000s. Property has been a boon to me I don’t mind admitting. No development just buy to let and refurbishment. Shares just keep my interest, to an extent. But in the main I prefer Nasdaq to the LSE. Did you buy your council house? Good for you if you did, nice discounts were had I hear.

Back on gold this is heartening:

Last week's trading once again saw the Gold market forming its high into early-week, here doing so with the tag of the 1301.70 figure - registered in Monday's session. From there, a decent decline was seen into Thursday, with the metal dropping all the way down to a low of 1284.90 - before bouncing off the same to end the week. Overall, the short-term cycles are looking for a rally, with the mid-term cycles still deemed to be pointing south into what looks to be the month of May. From there, a decent rally is expected to play out into the Summer months - Gold Eagle.

It's definitely a buyers market at the moment, recent tax changes on second homes seems to have a created an overhang in the market.

As soon as that clears and we have certainty over brexit, the housing market will be on it's way again. Just my opinion of course.

Thanks plat. It is a bit early yet and so much change will happen over the next 25 years. Including the inflation of assets thanks to undoubted continuation of QE to stave off deflationary collapse. Good time to buy in London now.

I think now that JLP are looking as though they have finally got their act together it will be a good long-term hold offering many multibagging opportunites over the coming years. I have 1.8m accrued over the last three years and I shall be holding very tightly!

Looking good over there HH good luck with it, I only have a modest 600k shares over there but a 10 bag on that would suit me nicely.

I've been looking at SML lately, very interesting story and BOD structure is all ownership with options at multiples of current share price

I'm pleased plat that ive got everybody thinking about it,it's a funny thing isn't it when you are young you need it and you haven't got it then when you are old you've got it and you don't need it,life is funny,

Your children don't even need to know you've done it either,it's technically a life insurance policy of which they are ultimately the named beneficiaries of.

no one knows when they going to die so if you have something to plan for then plan soon.

DT, I would speak to a chartered accountant or solicitor about something called a 'Gift & Loan Trust'

You can essentially gift you assets now whilst you're still alive for the trust to loan them back to you. You get to keep ownership rights of the assets but you start your tapering of Inheritance Tax Liabilities without breaching the beneficiaries annual gift allowance.

Ken 🎾 .. ahhhh I understand ... the trading profits have dragged overall cost as you have typically reinvested . I took the cash , invested elsewhere then came back in so I count that profit separate . CEY used to provide some nice peaks and troughs but it’s not budging from 89 to 90 until news by the looks of it. Let’s hope it’s good .
Trader365 ... you have your way of trading we have ours. Our way involves a gamble admittedly but it is an educated one based on knowledge and fundamentals which to be honest I am more comfortable with as opposed to your north south method where you can miss the rises and my way enables some day trading for a bit of fun and gain which you are saying you avoid . It’s worked well for me .. I have averaged down many times since starting to trade last year and taken 4 small losses against 18 gains so to be honest I am not going to take a blind bit of notice of your comments but good look to you . Having said that I rarely invest unless fundamentals are solid whereas quite a fe on here seem to be gambling on the big kill / gain and might as well stick it on a horse .
