Celtic today (5/2/99) announced the appointment of prominent businessman Frank
O'Callaghan (59)as the new non-executive Chairman elect of the Celtic plc
Board of Directors.  His career started with Thomson McLintock CA's as a
Chartered Accountant (1963-66), then a management consultant with McLintock,
Moores & Murray (1966-72) before becoming financial controller at Stakis plc
(1972-73) and then, at the age of 33 becoming Financial Director between 1973
and 1989 when the company's profits rose from approximately #500,000 to
#30,000,000 then leaving Stakis following the appointment of Andros Stakis as
Managing Director in 1989.

Throughout the last ten years, O'Callaghan has successfully guided a number of
companies through periods of substantial business growth.

In 1990, he became a founding Director of McDonald Hotels plc, of which he is
currently Non-Executive Chairman.   In the last four years the group has grown
to a market value of around #100m.

Mr. O'Callaghan's knowledge of the leisure sector is further demonstrated by
way of his non-executive directorship of Deep Sea Leisure plc,launched on AIM
market in 1996, with a current market capitalisation of approximately #20m. 
He also holds Non executive roles within Outreach plc and the Scottish Legal
Life Assurance Society (#200m Market Cap. Approx.)
