06/4/2002 23:37 | Ken Bates talks tough about the Chelsea wage bill, as seen on BBC SPORT website; | marquis
06/4/2002 23:11 | TWO CHELSEA FOOTBALLERS BAILED OVER NIGHTCLUB FRACAS Some further interesting comments on the BBC SPORT website; | marquis
21/3/2002 17:02 | Got to worth a punt at these prices, especially with a good chance of qualifying for the Chamions League next season or UEFA at least. | gilley
21/3/2002 16:20 | Bid 17p Off 19p (Were Bid 15p Offer 17p earlier in the day.) Mkt Cap. £30.51 million. Any takers? | marquis
16/3/2002 11:51 | Hilary, Apologies for the delay in replying. Was 'laid low' in the horizontal position for two days taking vast doses of vitamin C to aid recovery. To beat Spurs 4-0 twice in a matter of days must have been pleasing. The article by Seymour Pierce suggests that Chelsea have got there costs under control. However, I do recall that Seymour Pierce shares have constantly been recommended by the Daily Mirror share tipsters when they were up at 16p, their current price is 8.3p. Early in 2000, Seymour Pierces shares were over £1. Whether that is relevant to Seymour Pierce's prognosis of Chelsea Village who knows! Football shares are out of favour at the moment. How much lower they will go or whether they will go lower is anybodies guess. Hilary as you have suggested that one major Chelsea Village shareholder wants to sell out, that will automatically depress the shares on top of other influences. At the current price of 20p, the market capitalisation of Chelsea Village is £33.9 million. At a price of 20.35p, Newcastle United has a market capitalisation of £31.23 million and they must have surely secured a Champions League place next season. They have the second largest ground in the Premiership. Instead there shares have also dropped. | marquis
16/3/2002 07:53 | Hilary, Excellent link and a good report, unfortunately Seymour's act as house broker for chelsea, and as you may know house brokers tend to look favourably on their clients results and expectations otherwise they become ex house brokers. Nice try though. AVOID AT ANY PRICE | monacoman
12/3/2002 17:31 | I see the background seller's surfaced to drop a few today. | hilary
12/3/2002 08:48 | Hilary, Perhaps the low price already reflects all the concerns you have expressed. Good win for Chelsea over Spurs, 0-4 at White hart Lane. Perhaps the FA Cup has Chelsea's name on it this year. Although don't rule out Newcastle Utd. | marquis
10/3/2002 10:42 | Marquis, Sorry, but as I've said before, I don't have a target. I'm just watching for now. Interims should be out soon. I doubt that they'll make pretty reading with the September 11th effect on the hotels. | hilary
09/3/2002 10:33 | What is going on here between Hilary and Monaco Man? Seriously Hilary,in your opinion what price are the Chelsea shares worth? At what price would you buy them at? | marquis
06/3/2002 15:43 | Calm down, I just find it amusing listening to Mug Punters, do you really invest in stocks and shares, or are you sitting at home every day waiting to watch your wonderboys at the bridge. If you have some spare time there are an excellent range of investment courses you could attend. All the best Monaco | monacoman
06/3/2002 14:50 | What are you, Monaco? Some sort of pervy stalker? Have you tried looking in Yellow Pages under Psychiatrists? There must be someone out there who can help you. | hilary
05/3/2002 18:13 | Monaco, I'm not sure I understand your affinity with CAV. I've already stated that I don't hold and don't consider them to be a current buy and, as you don't rate them either, I don't know why you keep coming back here. In the meantime, I've found something especially for you - . Love and kisses. Hil. PS. They do trade at approx 20% of assets. Check the wording of my post. If I'd meant nett assets I'd have said so. | hilary
01/3/2002 08:49 | I am slightly confused by Hilary's previious statement, it would appear from the report and accounts that long term creditors have 16% between 2000/ 2001, please explain Hil's. 22.7% spread, I have seen more action in a corpse than there is in these shares | monacoman
28/2/2002 09:17 | Hilary, Thank you for your insight. So should we be thinking about possibly buying these shares closer to 2007? If these shares dropped to 1p, as Monaco man suggests they might, would you buy them then? | marquis
26/2/2002 18:19 | As I previiously stated who will buy a football stadium they are not a discount to NAV if you factor intangibles, which could be written down at a drop of a hat, particualarly Lampard. Buy it at 1p it you are reckless, this stock is a dog with no future a bit like the team. Keep the faith AVOID any football stocks at all cost | monacoman
26/2/2002 10:48 | Marquis, Sorry but I don't have a target. At the moment I'm just monitoring the situation. There's still a lot of negative issues with the stock - they're loss-making, they don't pay dividends, there's a known willing seller, there are no current analyst forecasts, the chart's naff, the stock's illiquid and would you really want to be owning a couple of London hotels post September 11th? But. They claim to be meeting loan interest ahead of schedule and the attraction is a hefty discount to assets once the loan is repaid (2007 from memory??). Time will tell. Hil. | hilary
26/2/2002 10:16 | Hilary, At appears to me that you have some knowledge about Chelsea FC financial matters. So what would be the price that you think we should all buy in at? I ask that question, because you have previously mentioned that you think Chelsea Village have further to drop. | marquis
26/2/2002 07:04 | No need to be like that Hil's, at least we have found out your heart runs blue and white, it is very difficult to research the 3,000 or so stocksin great detail when you are not an institution, lets face it they only concentrate on the top 350 and they are not very good at that. Actualy I did mentionthemajor shareholders in a previous posting including NY nominees, sorry I did not know who was behind this lot, it is interesting to see that Bates is the buyer, not really renowned for being the shrewest of operators these days is he, didnt they pay £11 million for a midfield player that can not run last summer (Terrible business). I just say it the way I see it, even Man UTd are struggling, probably only Celtic have got it right with their wage bill compared with turnover. I still have not seen one buying idea from you. No offence but as previously stated AVOID Love and Kisses Monaco | monacoman
25/2/2002 11:02 | Marquis, Sorry to disappoint - I'm not Mrs Gish. My husband and I are both season ticket holders at Chelsea (they don't equate to £60 per seat per match either, as monaco suggested) and have been for a number of years. It's a case of love the team but not the company for me, I'm afraid. Hil. | hilary
25/2/2002 10:47 | Hilary, Many thanks for the information. But I was beginning to wonder whether you were the Mrs Gish or Mrs Gist!! I will say one thing about you. You are definitely keen on footballing matters, as I have seen you calling card on other football threads. | marquis
25/2/2002 10:29 | Hi Marquis, Mrs Gish is the ex-wife of Harding who has since remarried. Her interest in the company is held through the Harding estate in the name of NY Nominees. For a few years she has made no secret of wishing to dispose of the stake and on a number of occassions I gather Bates has kindly offered to take it off her hands at much higher prices than todays. Each time that Bates has made an offer (from memory the offers started at £1.50), Gish has let pride stand in her way and dragged her heels and the price has eased. In turn Bates has made a series of ever-reducing offers and here we are now. The price is on the floor and I believe she still wants out (even more so as her new husband is connected with a different football club). I suspect that Bates will simply bide his time before picking her stock up for peanuts. That's about as much as I know. As for the company they've got: A 42,500 seater stadium, 2 hotels, 8 restaurants, a sports bar, piano bar, a pub/club, a night club, a health club, fourteen function rooms, 20,000 sqft of retail, 24,000 sqft of offices, a travel agency, a radio station, a television channel, a business centre and an underground car park. There's also the small matter of the recently acquired 9-hole golf course which is intended to be turned into a new training ground. Then there's the £24 million Emirates sponsorship deal. But like monaco suggests ......... "they're totally reliant upon Sky and winning the Champions League to make a profit". Not! Hil. | hilary |
