27/6/2017 22:09 | "It's their words that matter."Absolutely!K C | kcsham
27/6/2017 21:42 | Hi Kcsham. Why to you refer to RCTurner2 as "little"? If he is a person of restricted growth, then he may take offence? Perhaps we should drop the personal descriptors? Speaking for myself, I'm not bothered what people look like. It's their words that matter. | ed 123
27/6/2017 21:09 | Of course, another reason for that is this little guy does not really fully understand what the UT is.K C | kcsham
27/6/2017 20:57 | nomdeplume - You are right it is UT. After market is closed at 16:30, bid and offer orders could be submitted to SET auction system for the next 5 minutes and then ended. Using those matching and odd orders, the SET system will calculate the closing price for the day in the next ten or less seconds. How it to be done could be discussed in the future. The figure stated as UT therefore is a volume figure of half buys and half sells.Since the LSE named it as uncrossing trade, I don't see there is a problem to refer it as trade although the orders are not in fact executed in the above period of time. After all, nobody should disagree that those orders could be completed as after market trades in the same day or as before market open trades in the following morning after auction period. It is interesting/disgusti | kcsham

27/6/2017 19:05 | deja vu yet another plant who doesn't know what the UT trade is so, we are agreed it wasn't a 50% rise then? | rcturner2
27/6/2017 18:32 | MrJ : The big one looks like the UT. | nomdeplume
27/6/2017 18:15 | edmundshaw - How you managed to get you message by reading between the lines? Is it another episode of yours seeing pink again? Of course I am only joking. I am glade that you pass on that message. JAF1948 - Thanks for your effect to get a reply from the company. I have nearly been tempted to buy another couple of thousand shares around 16:00 this afternoon. Nearly .........K C | kcsham
27/6/2017 18:12 | Topped up my holding just before the close. £1m of buys went through after hours: 17:01 - 27/06 Buy 21721 191.28p £41,548.36 16:49 - 27/06 Buy 7612 190.30p £14,485.41 16:49 - 27/06 Buy 1387 190.29p £2,639.38 16:49 - 27/06 Buy 5756 190.30p £10,953.44 16:35 - 27/06 Buy 448031 189.90p £850,810.87 Somebody has a little faith! | mrjohnson
27/6/2017 17:55 | That's just about how I read it too !We wait until the 11th then. | jaf1948
27/6/2017 17:48 | Thanks JAF. Good they replied. If they want you to get a message you will have to read between the lines between the lines on that one. Between the lines I read "don't panic, we are aware and might be saying something related to your concerns on 11th but we cannot really say anything right now due to closed period". Between the lines between those lines I really couldn't comment but wait for 11th! :-)). | edmundshaw
27/6/2017 17:21 | RCT : After the 6 July 2016 trading statement, the share price rose from 221p to 296p. which is roughly 30%. I would take that. | nomdeplume
27/6/2017 17:19 | Amazingly, in the past few minutes I have had a reply from the company. It was, of course, totally non-committal (as it legally must be) but gave the impression that the Board are more than aware of what effect the shorting is having on the company and its reputation. They pointed me in the direct of the next update on July 11th but gave no hint as to its contents. If the news on the 11th contains no surprises, I will be buying many more. If it gives us some unexpected problems, then I will sell the rest of my holding. We will each do what we think is right. | jaf1948
27/6/2017 17:04 | Hi Wllmherk. If I may, I think RCTurner2 is questioning the quality of the profits. When is a reported underlying profit a reflection of the real performance of the business and when is it not? Have you gone through the accounts with a critical eye? What do you think? (I'm not trying to worry you, btw. No buy/sell advice intended.) | ed 123
27/6/2017 16:51 | The share price did not rise 50% after the last trading statement, talk about clutching at straws. Anyone describing Carillion as "very profitable" needs their head looking at. | rcturner2
27/6/2017 16:44 | M4rtinu. Coincidence? I don't think it was a coincidence. The attempted merger drew the question, "Why?" So, Carillion was put under the microscope and some thought they could see weakness. The short positions are not reducing and the large size of the total short is risky. The exit will be crowded if there should be a rush. My conclusion is that the short sellers feel very confident. I agree with JAF1948. This has gone on long enough. The Board of Carillion should make a statement. Maybe the trading statement will be the time to do that? (No position, myself, just watching.) | ed 123
27/6/2017 16:42 | This one is hurting my folio, thought I had a good price at 211p plus the dividend, but, not looking too good now. I read the companies previous statements and must say I am aware of no news that merits such a sell off, I appreciate they have fairly large debts and pension liabilities, but, still appear a very profitable company. I bought primarily for income but, looks to me like a dividend cut is a certainty as current yield unsustainable :( wllm | wllmherk
27/6/2017 16:34 | I don't believe the Board can reply to me with the trading statement being so soon, but if I do hear anything, I will pass it on. | jaf1948
27/6/2017 16:33 | Ed 123 - and that was when the problems, at least with the shorting, started. The share price started its long and painful downtrend soon afterwards. Coincidence? JAF1948 - thanks for trying. | m4rtinu
27/6/2017 16:29 | There is a trading statement in two weeks. The share price looks like being a copy of what happened last year in the run up to the statement. After the statement, the share price rose 30%. | nomdeplume
27/6/2017 16:25 | I have already written to the Board earlier this week. From my email: 'The total absence of news from the company over the past few months has played right into the shorters' hands and is very disappointing for genuine investors in your company. I am sad that the Board has not taken any open proactive measures to reassure the market.' I have not yet received, and do not expect, a reply. | jaf1948
27/6/2017 16:19 | To be fair, they tried to address the problem in August 2014 with the attempted merger with Balfour Beatty. Where do they go now? | ed 123 |
