22/8/2009 09:56 | lol short killer - 20 Aug'09 - 11:52 - 1101 of 1227 edit If you have 1000 shares, you could sell it at 100p yesterday: 1000 shares = £1000 Now: if you sell at 50p at mo.: 1000 shares = £500 You will get 2000 new shares, if say you still can sell it at 50p when you got them: 2000 shares x 50p = £1000 Total proceeds = 500 + 1000 - 480 (2000x24p) = £1020 At 50p, you only have £20 higher than yesterday's holding. So 50p is a reasonable value after the RNS. At you sell at 40p: Total proceeds = 400 + 800 - 480 = £720. You have a loss £280 (ie, down 28% from its peak 100p) If you sell at 30p when the new shares hit the market: Total proceeds = 300 + 600 - 480 = £420 you have a loss £580 (ie down 58% from its peak 100p). If the market price is lower than 24p when the new shares hit the market.....you know the answer. lol | lol short killer

22/8/2009 08:09 | esanlfc, I use Selftrade for some of my trades and I sold CAL on the 13th August. They have informed me that I am entitled to the open offer. Work that one out! I assume that I could go ahead and sell the rights but looks like another mistake from them. | ![]() crawford
21/8/2009 21:43 | Lots of time to get in on this one. Its dead in the water now ! We've had a strong august on the FTSE, which is normally followed by a weak september. The lows should come in october for the market. So will keep my powder dry for this. | ![]() mreasygoing

21/8/2009 21:13 | bailiffs - 21 Aug'09 - 21:38 - 1220 of 1220 You want to pay more attention to this guy - lol short killer - 19 Aug'09 - 14:27 - 944 of 1219 I think CAL is peaked. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but if he sold on wed then he missed the rights issue.......I think we will get the last laugh :-) | ![]() spec7

21/8/2009 20:15 | esanlfc kibes thanks for your views very much appreciated. Another lesson learnt even with profits always keep the eye on what you have bought limit buying has done me at this moment in time. I do like a company with cash though Still not 100% sure of my next move in or out but cest la vie all the best | ![]() l2e
21/8/2009 19:56 | L2E - trading was heavy yesterday with the news and big drop but it seems to have eased off today. If it was going to fall much further I would have thought we would have seen heavy trading and a further big drop today which has not happened. There were more buy orders than sells most of the day on level 2. There are some plus points in that the fundraising means CAL will be much better capitalised which will help concerns about covenants etc. Also other property companies and house builders are doing very well at the moment, quite astonishing to see Rightmove (RMV) the online comparison site up 80p today. The market is definitely factoring in a rapid recovery for property, or perhaps people just think prices will go up when inflation kicks in as a result of printing money! | ![]() kibes
21/8/2009 19:37 | L2E - the new 24p shares will not come into play until 10th september so you can still trade your current allocation as you wish. i think the smart investors sold out in the high 50s thereby giving them an actual profit from the previous nights close (this was 98p but with the new shares being taken into account yesterday morning it became 49p). i sold my lot in the low 50s personally speaking i think these will hang around in the mid 30s till 10th september and then itll be a long term hold for me when i get the new shares as it may take a while to actually get back up to the 49p mark | ![]() esanlfc
21/8/2009 19:23 | eveming I know that these questions have probably been asked many times but I have been away. My average here is around 45 pence and this Open Offer is at 24, I captured my stock on limit on day of anouncement,am I right in thinking that CAL stock should have been suspended untill the new stock was trading pari pari? The way I see it is the market aint gonna give you something for nothing and there for the price should be at 24 pence. Is my view wrong here and could someone let me have a view because obviously my average is well out at the moment and I should not still be holding? of course there have been situations like xta that have had offers that were well below their trading price and the stock never went any where near that but then again that was a rights issue. Any views out there, could the price hold at value near the 40s, I am assuming that the general consensus is for more depreciation. I am a bit confused with this one when I should not be! good luck all | ![]() l2e
21/8/2009 17:33 | aberdare - i think you had to be holding them on thur at 8am but i could be wrong. deffo ring them as they are usually inept when it comes to working out simple things lol nice one sja123 :-) | ![]() esanlfc
21/8/2009 17:30 | Selftrade seem to be a law unto themselves. I thought the qualifying time for shares was 8.00am Thursday 20th..... I sold some a day earlier on Wednesday and they have included them in my holding...not complaining as they have given me more than I thought I was entitled to :-) | sja123
21/8/2009 17:15 | esanifc i am with selkftrade sold my share just before close on the wednesday do you know if that qualifies for the issue. i wa going to ring them on monday rgds | aberdare
21/8/2009 16:53 | anyone else here with Selftrade? got the corporate action from them this afternoon however the idiots have me down as having held 3482 shares when i actually had 5378 shares in my ISA have fired an email back to them querying this however i'm stunned at how really really incompetent they are dont forget these are the same bunch who 'forgot' to set the new ISA year earlier this April meaning we couldnt put the funds into the account until 2 days later | ![]() esanlfc

21/8/2009 14:33 | Freddy, what about your 300k open offer entitlement. You did short it? | ![]() typo56
21/8/2009 14:10 | Typo56 - SAF is difficult to deal in size, but I have always bought dogs when they are starving (14-15p in SAF's case)and nobody wants them, Crookney put up a chart of SAF v Land Securities over the past 20 years, but SAF spun off businesses worth a fortune whereas Land did nothing but rode the wave...But I think OTE is the more interesting, and also KEIF - if you don't have the gearing you might just as well buy a non prop play By the way Crookney, I am now out of CAL, the highest price I sold for was 105, on rising prices from 88p, but sold my last 150,000 yesterday at 64p average....Cal has made me more money than anything else this year, but thats what comes of having a sensible sized position in them, built up patiently as they fell to 13p, look back over your posts in response to mine and you will see why you underperform in one way markets.....you have got to get a bit more courage to back your convictions and you might one day be snapping at my heels | ![]() ydderf
21/8/2009 13:56 | :-) I prefer CLI Frauddy - trading at half NAV, results next week and th Chairman bought nearly half a million in June @ £3. Far more liquid than your scammy SAF :-) CR | ![]() cockneyrebel
21/8/2009 13:51 | Freddy, if SAF is such a great play why aren't you a major shareholder? Market cap is only £3m. Are you doing penny parcel punts these days? | ![]() typo56 |
