20/11/2019 10:09 | World Bank Predicts Recovery of Tea Prices in 2020 By Dan Bolton November 18, 2019 According to World Bank projections, the Beverage Price Index is expected to increase 2% in 2020, following a 5% decline in 2019. 16/10/2019 11:47 | Promising! Topography looks good, single lane planting doesn't maximise yield per hectare but IMHO it does allow for better growth. Clones appear healthy. I would like to see the development of these bushes. | cmackay

20/9/2019 01:36 | Rajah Banerjee has recently sold Makaibari to his nephew, who owns a great number of Assam tea estates. I know him well. His new company is called Rimpocha Teas. Orange Valley is owned by a company I can't recall the name of right now, but they have about half a dozen estates in India. Neither of them supply anyone, they are the pinnacle of tea growing and are sold as single estate orthodox teas. Makaibari has the record for highest price achieved at auction (private sakes gave achieved even higher). | cmackay

19/9/2019 01:28 | Castleton and Margaret's Hope are both decent Darjeeling estates. Makaibari and Orange Valley are better though. | cmackay
18/9/2019 23:22 | Kakuzi retains a full London share listing, but no marketmaker. Why cannot the guys at Camellia remedy this ? | coolen

27/11/2018 17:20 | I am drinking Castleton Vintage Darjeeling Tea. Nice cuppa. I'm not a connoisseur so I can't really add much other than that it is light and has a tiny bit of a green tea flavour. There was no email correspondence following the purchase and the tracking on the website didn't recognise my order number but the parcel came by Royal Mail today, well packed and intact, so 13 days from placing the order. When I have finished my current batch of Chinese breakfast tea I'll pile into the Chai CTC and Khaass which will determine how regularly I use this service in future. | nerdlinger
16/11/2018 08:16 | more the former, certainly not a breakfast tea | nerdlinger
15/11/2018 21:30 | Like you Nerdlinger, it would be good to purchase our own teas as I try to do with Camellia's avocados. Following on from that, is the Margaret's Hope more of a light afternoon Darjeeling or a stronger Assam type, please ? | coolen
14/11/2018 08:12 | Thanks for the link coolen, I now know how to pronounce Camellia. I finally placed my order with Goodricke on their website, it might take a while to ship but I will update with a review of our tea. Incidentally that Margaret's Hope high grade tea I got was nice but I don't think the high price was justified, | nerdlinger
03/11/2018 20:35 | Video on You Tube of Camellia's "Margaret's Hope" tea garden is worth a view. | coolen
03/11/2018 08:42 | Thanks Piedro, I just tried buying some from that website but just got errors. I was able to register but the online payment doesn't work. I'll try it again later. EDIT: tried again using Internet Explorer instead of Edge but no joy, emailed Goodricke. The delivery charge is high but the unit cost of the product is low so it looks like a good option for buying in bulk if it gets fixed. | nerdlinger

02/11/2018 23:04 | I believe much of Camellia's teas goes to blenders. But if you buy avocados, chose those with a "Kenya" label. Good chance they will come from Camellia's Nairobi-listed "Kakuzi" subsidiary. Technically, their Kakuzi subsidiary is still fully listed on the LSE under the stock code "KAKU" and duly makes its RNS announcements each half-year. I believe Kakuzi is having a great year in terms of P&L. Sadly, there is presently no market-maker since Winterflood gave up due to the red-tape of registering Kenyan shares. Since you kindly raised the question, Nerdlinger, I shall investigate further about whether we can buy unblended Camellia tea. | coolen
29/10/2018 13:28 | Nerdlinger, congratulations on your timing | piedro
23/10/2018 17:51 | Put my SKY profit here. I'm thinking it's a good one for my diverse, "never sell" portfolio. I also like tea. | nerdlinger |
