Do not be fooled by them being empty. I have visited over a dozen as part of my research, different locations in London. Look at how many are ordered online & kept in the fridge behind the counter. Try & engage with the staff how many they make. The average sales in shops is GBP 7k a week I think. The actual shops are just a pick up point for a unique personal cake that is ordered elsewhere

Has anyone actually been into one of their stores. I'm intrigued to know how busy they generally are. One has opened near me.....the only one that I've ever actually seen on a high street and must say on both occasions the store was empty (might just be this particular location and the fact that they were new).

How will this virus affect cake box? I imagine less birthday parties over the next few months and less new franchises why people wait to see what happens to wider market?

Analysts at Liberum initiated coverage on bakery chain Cake Box on Tuesday, hitting the group with a 250.0p target price and a buy rating.Liberum said Cake Box benefits from being fully franchised, providing it with a capital-light rollout model that will earn it double rates of growth every year for at least the next five.Wayne Brown and his team of analysts said Liberum, which was led by its founders and has a proven track-record of expansion, was also blessed with a scalable model and infrastructure able to accommodate a tripling of its estate. Cake Box benefits from high growth, which is all funded by its franchisees. A strong working capital profile and limited need for capex means the group generates a ROCE >60% and earns more cash than it needs, said Liberum.Liberum also said that limited competition and being the only national operator of scale gave Cake Box a "strong market position"."While barriers to entry are low, we see brand awareness rising from continued expansion. We see numerous positive catalysts from new product adjacencies, routes to market, and channels over time," added the analysts."The current valuation does not reflect the quality of the business."

I will probably check stores on the website at the end of March because that is their year-end. Their goal is to open two a month but were below that rate in the first half. These things ebb and flow. In previous years they have beaten the store opening target. The new distribution centres will presumably make it easier to attract and service franchisees around the UK.

Only thing we can do is follow new store opening progress on the website. Trading update April and then I think final results June.

Of course people can do on the ground research if they want too. Not much to comment on with companies that don't generate much news. But that is usually a good sign. Companies that generate a huge amount of newsflow are generally over-hyping things and end in disaster!

all positive. Reflected on the asset light franchise business model, the egg free selling point and how far the growth story has to run.

A couple of weeks ago no one was buying and everyone was selling... now no one is selling and everyone is buying. Welcome to the world of small cap investing. The COO bought 5,000 shares at 148.5p. Not a huge amount but better than a slap in the face.

Was greatly oversold with RSI just 7 hence the bounce today.
Trading on >20x earnings however and growth clearly slowing.
