Hi all - Just reading posts and was alarmed to see the name Rob Terry being mentioned here as though part of Burford - my understanding is that a Rob Terry was involved in a company called Quindell which I believe went bust ? What a strange person this Chimers character must be to state what he /she has above ?

@Chimers. Burford Capital has no employee called Mr. Rob Terry, and never had one. He therefore could never leave Burford Capital and could not net out £6m from Burford Capital. Terry also never announced to buy Burford Capital shares, since he was never a Burford Capital shareholder its also false that it later emerged he actually sold £10.4 million-worth of shares. Burford Capital is also not US-based. You are in the wrong Thread Mr. Chimers.

WAS THE NATIONAL PRESS ALSO HALLUCINATING?

The Independent.
Mr Terry, as well as former finance director Laurence Moorse. Both were forced to leave last month after taking part in a controversial share-dealing arrangement with US finance provider Equities First Holdings that also sent the share price tumbling. Mr Terry is believed to have netted £6m from that.
This week chairman Rob Terry left the company after controversy over director dealings. Terry and two other directors had announced they were buying shares in the company, but it later emerged they had actually sold £10.4 million-worth of shares to US-based Equities First Holding.

How do you know the directors "actually" bought any shares.

There is the Equity First dodge where you can sell your shares to them but still own them legally except you dont.
You get the cash they get the shares and sell them and you have the right to demand delivery back of your shares except that will never happen.
Thats the gig.
Rob Terry did it at Quindell.
